For years I’ve read this thread but I’ve never actually known what the collar site is? Where is it located on that picture? Is it the land next to the east stand?
I think it's the area within the roads surrounding the stadium. So the land between Bradford Rd and the the stadium to the North, Alan Turing Way and the stadium to the East, Ashton New Rd and the stadium to the South and whatever that road going past the athletics track is called and the stadium to the west. Or is all what I've described known as the Etihad Campus? Tell you what, I'm with you mate - I haven't got a clue where it is!

A lot of it is the dust covered ‘car parks’ surrounding the stadium lol! Also land either side of the bridge connecting to the CFA.

I believe it also stretches up towards the gas works

True. :-)

The Japanses would have built the whole current Metrolink system in a year. ;-)

Does anyone remember the sink hole that appeared on the Mancunian Way? If I remember correctly it took the Council via contractors Weeks to repair it.

Something similar happened in Japan. It took them 48 hours to repair it. :-) And the officials bowed to each other when the work was finished. Bloody great the Japanese.

See video.

A 30-metre sinkhole on a busy street in the Japanese city of Fukuoka has been repaired astonishingly quickly. The sinkhole appeared on 8 November and caused power cuts, disrupted phone signals, and gas and water supplies. Officials reopened the road to traffic on Tuesday 15 November after health and safety checks.

Let's be honest. We're good at building thinks, but we take an age to do it.

The Japanese had to redo it 4 months later as the ground started to sag. Even so the road was only closed for a weekend to fix it and it will have cost less overall than rebuilding the cullvert under the Mancunian way.

I don't see how they can do a single tier without closing the stand for a season. But then if anyone can find the people that could our owners are probably the ones.
I dont see why not - just one row was lost at the back of the South Stand 2nd tier when they built the new 3rd tier behind/over the South Stand - for the North Stand single tier (merged second and third tier only I reckon) they'd just start a little further back and then close the gap up (where the corporate boxes are) at the end - the original planning app for the expansion did show this option

Latest photoshop from me on this

However it would be a different ball game if they want a top to bottom single tier like Spuds are getting than the whole second tier in the north stand would need ripping out. And you'd end up with something like this...

Yes it was the top to bottom single tier I meant, the merged second and third I agree wouldn't be a problem.

Thoughts.

Single tier.

The only issue I see is this. If City want to create a proper safe standing section at the bottom of a redeveloped NS, where fans can stand and sing, that will force all the other City fans behind them to stand, which the club and the local authorities, Council, H&S, Police, etc won't allow.

I'm more inclined to think City will do a double tier, retaining the current NS lower tier for a safe standing section, and a much larger upper tier, where City fans can sit.(or stand for the big games)

Spurs new stadium and the single tier.
