As soon as I saw the starting lineup I just hoped that it was only the preseason lineup and that it will never be used in practice. Lack of creativity in that first 11. There will almost always be lack of creativity when Negredo and Dzeko play at the same time. Instead, one of the should play, paired with Jovetic or Aguero.

I would also say that Arsenal are way stronger than people think. Not just based on this game, but they are the only top team which maintained stability from the last year. This will help them to start the season strong and I predict they will be top 2 (along with City).

Clichy had a bad game, by the way, defensively. I like the guy, I just feel we rarely discuss his mistakes while Kolarov's are exaggerated. Good decision though, by Pells, not to play AK in this game because him vs Walcott is a mismatch. He got that right for sure.

OK, now lets just hope that this game was one experiment.

Having just watched the game on City's web site I'm not panicing. We looked good at times and generally controlled the game.

Some good points for me -
Fernandinho looked good and will have a major impact this season
Negredo certainly works hard and offers us something different
Zab and Micah + Kompany geberally looked solid

Bad points

Dzeko looked like hes carried oon from last season
Expected to see a bit more of Jovetic and Navas
Yaya needs to do more when we don't have possession
We looked a bit one dimensional again relying on Silva magic or fullback getting in behind

Usual
Milner - looked good but final ball not there
Lescott - looked ok but nowhere for any of the goals
Clichy usual final ball into the box - seriously needs to improve

Dzeko and Nasri played like they played last season. Clichy is also a worry. Whenever is defending lets him down he really has no use in the team, as his attacking play is atrocious.

I'm also wondering are Toure and Ferdandinho going to be strong enough defensively against the top teams. I feel with us pushing up so high we are susceptible to counter attacks and will be punished by the better sides. Perhaps Pelle will eradicate this and have us lie a bit deeper? Does anyone know if this is a trait of all his teams?

It was just a friendly and the last push for full match fitness as Kompany said, I very much doubt we would line up like that in the league and also very much doubt Arsenal will finish in the top 2, I actually think we might finally see them drop out of the CL places.

Hope the team is ready for the season, way things are going Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham are all going to be strong and we need players performing to the max.

Bizarre result. Overall we were the better side.

We got 'caught' 3 times but other than that Arsenal didn't create much. To their credit they were lethal with their chances.

We had several good chances to score and several good 'last third' passages of play but failed to make only one of them count. We were far from lethal.

Positives:

First half Silva was outstanding, linking up really well with Milner & Zabaleta.

Use of balls 'over the top' and balls crossed in (in a variety of ways) from a variety of positions (this didn't happen under Mancini).

Negredo took his goal very very well, showing (as against Bayern) great strength, determination and composure.

Fernandinho showed what a great shielder he is and was everywhere snuffing problems out.

Kompany is getting back to his very best.

Negatives:

We got 'caught' trying to play to high a line and appeared over confident with this especially given Arsenal have some very pacy players.

Hart was poor at coming off his line to smother when one on one.

Clichy needs to learn to use his pace in the attacking phase. Knock it past the full back and whip a cross in. 90% of the time he 'checks back' and slows (or stops) potential counter attacks. Very frustrating.

Agree with this and it concerns me playing so high up the field leaves us vulnerable to the counter attack.

Overall we were the better team IMO

Ok just got back to hotel room from watching game. Will keep it brief.....

Thought fernandinho was very good.
Silva the best player on the pitch ( whilshire was pretty good as was more surprizingly Aaron Ramsey ! )
Yaya strolled all game.

The full backs worried me by being caught too high a lot of the time.

And Dzeko was not mobile enough.

Negredo worked hard and looked physically strong and will be useful.

However the main issue was we still go all through the middle and all via silva....no plan B.

Overall we had tonnes of the ball and created not so many clear cut chances, which is a worry.

Bloody too many arsenal fans for my liking and City missed a few PR tricks. No acknowledgement to fans at end or something like giving their shirts to some Finnish kids would have cost City peanuts but gone down well here and gained a lot of positive press. It showed me how far the club has to go to be a big name worldwide.....which I'm sure that's what the owners want.

Anyway off to sample the bright lights of Helsinki !!! Some very attractive women over here !
