Hart low on his left side is a huge liability and it has been his whole career

bollocks........remember one of his best (and most important saves was to his left vs everton in the second season we won the league (i think) -its just a cliche that this is a weakness as he makes plenty of excellent saves on his left.

but he'll know more than anyone on bluemoan, otherwise txiki would have hired @Marvin months ago.

Seriously are you saying he's only a manager because he got lucky at barca as he played for them and if joe blogs from West gorton who won last years fantasy football comp and who's a beast at footy manager, if givin the same chances pep got he could be managing us now?

We no, he wouldn't - because the top managers in the world are a merry-go-round that stop off at different top clubs. That's why so few every get near the top because so much is about the 'name'.
If you're lucky enough to get a job at a top club coming through the ranks and you succeed, you get yourself on that 'top manager' merry-go-round, but most never get that chance.
And that still doesn't mean an insightful fan can't see a problem in the team - because Pep / Mancini / Hughes / Pellers MUST know better.

Go and watch the programme on Sky demand called "Pep". Getting praised by the greats of the modern game left, right and centre for his passion, knowledge, meticulous detail, motivation, tactics and unrelenting will to be the best. People like Henry, Cruyff, Xavi, Beckenbauer, Laudrup, Alonso have all said he's a genius. He's no flash in the pan pop star, we've got a guy in charge that has changed the whole genre!
Yeah but he's mainly lucky.

Why the suprise. We are a team in major transition. New coach, new players, new tactics etc etc.

There are some dreamers on here that think it's all just going to click into place & that other teams can't or won't be able to stop us.

Get real people. We're under prepared & the next 5 months will be choppy.

BTW......before the apologists & attack dogs pipe up,not a rag,not a flapper,not a wummer

completely agree with you..plenty have been proclaiming th new signings etc are the key when in reality we may not see the benefit of it for a season or two

Are you that insightful fan?

Honest question, how old are you?

Many of the same people who have spent the last 4 years slating our title-winning and cup winning managers and telling anyone on here that "Pep would have won that game" EVERY time we didn't win are being a little defensive shall we say.

We were told last season, from game 6 onwards, that the "fucking corpse" should be winning the title "easily" with the squad he had, and that the second best manager in the German league would "walk" the title over here .

Since then we have lavished more tens of millions on the "should be pissing the title" squad and appointed pep four years after first asking (begging) him to be our manager.

By that logic this season should be done and dusted by March. Champions again.

You say it for four years, using it as a stick to annihilate a good man and a great manager with, you own it.

Bring on the title.

fuck has the season started already there`s me think it was a friendly

We can't be surprised really. We even commented when Pep was announced that precious few of our squad were capable of being "Pep players", so it's no surprise to see them look so poor. The squad needed gutting out, but we can't do that because they earn too much money and nobody can afford them. So it's a transitional season until (hopefully) a big season next year.

Don't understand how anyone has a problem with Pep.

I do understand those who are baffled by our transfers again.

Our CM, CB and LB positions have been a problem for 2 seasons and with a week to go we've still not brought anyone in to start.

Agreed, Hoping Jesus and Moreno turn out to world beaters but when you asses our squad its the defence that needs sorting.

However Txici's last two centre half purchases dont really inspire much confidence.

Think bonnucci would of made sense as hes got the experience to help and organise the others and can pass and play aswell. Stones would be another big gamble to me.

He's the new boo boy. I do think his days are numbered at city due to peps style, I do get wound up when our fans don't back him. He's been a key player for us for years, a bad euros and it seems majority are on his back.

Fucking jokers are out tonight mate. I'm opening a bottle of wine and will take another look at this thread tomorrow and see if our flock of **** puffins have taken flight or nested.

There's no time in England to piss about at the back from the keeper with limited players especially when the said players give it back to the keeper who is then hurried.

Could do with more time before we start.

Sunderland I we'll beat with the crowd/Pep factor but the away CL game could be awful.

I'm not normally negative but whoever signed off this pre-season is a disgrace.

Whilst I agree about limited players, playing out from the back was interesting tonight. Cech kicked it long all game and Arsenal lost possession most times. When Willy did get it right and we played it out from the back we kept possession but obviously it can be improved. Second half Hart kicked it long and we lost possession again. Whilst I agree we need the right players but do not agree this cannot work.

I am saying there are some incredible musicians who never become famous.
I'm saying there are some very knowledgable sports fans who never become managers.
I'm saying plenty of people at the top of sport are there because they were once very good players, at very good clubs, and they got themselves on the managerial merry-go-round at a level that most could never aspire to. It doesn't make them the world's best managers though. Yes, Guardiola is hugely regarded, just like Mourinho is, but they simply didn't start managing the town team. Their first managerial appointments were already at some of the world's top clubs!

Worst part of the team was the defence last year and we've done fuck all to sort it
Hopefully by Derby day we will have stones in and he's played a couple of games alongside Oti before hand otherwise I'm not looking forward to it

I hope your right but it looks like we've not 'started' yet.

We are definitely undercooked but I don't see how that could possibly be avoided. There just isn't enough time to change from what we were into what we want to be & it would still be the case if we had 6 more new signings, maybe even worse.

I think this season is just the kickoff & we will just aim to build the team & try to be thereabouts come May, which I recon we will, at least.

It's weird how anybody would think people are basing their opinions on Hart because of a poor euros. I doubt one single person who thinks his place is under threat does so because of what he's done on an England shirt.
