City v Arsenal Post Match

Today we got outwitted by Wenger.
18 corners should create a few chances but our failure to vary them made it so easy for their defence to cope. Not a single short corner!
Regroup and move on.
Not true. We did one short corner second half from the left. Navas did a one two to create a better crossing angle and then hit the first defender. Quell surprise.

I really hope that 35milion Mangala deal doesn't back fire. I've been really thinking about that deal and i just don't know why we didn't spend that money on a proper winger. We could have done with Vinny, DM, Sagna, Boyata and either one of Denayer / Rekik.

Money could have been spent on Fabregas or Sanchez

I dont care if i get called a rag, Mangala isn't a 35M CB...no way. He isn't as good as Varane, Laporte or Marquinhos. He was also playing in a shit league.

rag bastard, fuck off
Mangala didn't even play today and The DM mentioned there was our worst defender

We were miles better at keeping the ball but completely ineffective going forwards. What we lacked today was the influence of Yaya who is so powerful in the middle. Having Yaya just beyond either Fern gives us that extra space for Silva. Today we couldn't break them down because their entire gameplan revolved around nullifying Silva and it worked perfectly.

When Silva is taken out of the game we then have to rely on quality out wide and unfortunately Navas/Clichy/Zabs did not deliver what was required. You also have to factor in that Aguero was also completely taken out of the game and with the poor delivery, nothing was ever going to get created. Again the weakness in squad depth is exposed where we take out Yaya and Nasri and we are a top 4 team at best. Those people wanting to sell Yaya must be off their rocker!!

We had lampard, jovetic, navas, dzeko, aguero, silva all there to create things. Our squad is amazing and is probably the best in the league. Myabe we should just go and buy ronaldo and messi and rues ......

Those who want Yaya gone need to give themselves a slap hugely important to our team.

Don't think its that straight forward.....The formation we use in Europe with Yaya doesn't work and he does struggle with the defensive role he has to play BUT in the league its completely different and he makes things happen....we needed him today...and this shows that we still need to strengthen the midfield, as with so many star in the side....one player should not make that much of a difference....

Just got back. For me.

First of all, I thought we were poor. Possibly the worst performance this season.

I don't think Ive ever seen an arsenal team come to the Etihad and let us have the ball like that before. It was deliberate and wenger has finally learned. When he brings his teams and goes toe to toe he will be beaten. I think we were shell shocked in the first half because we just weren't expecting it. Its not an excuse, but explains some of the performance. It got me thinking on the way back. The last 4 home games have all gone the same way. Teams are learning how to play against us. At the moment we are suffering in a big way from injuries and I don't think any other team would be where we are with the same situation. That is testament to the club.

I think all of us now are beginning to understand how we operate. Have a gander at the conference with Feran. Its on youtube, I think it was posted on here not long ago. It was done in the UAE for a group of government people. He was advising how to operate a successful team/Business.

In a nut shell. It doesn't matter if you are 5 or 25, if you play for Manchester city then there is a way of doing things. We play football on the floor, we press high, the fullbacks are wingers and there centre backs spread out and make the pitch big. Its what Barcelona do. They are just much better at it ATM. Its not a coincidence when you look at who runs us. You know who they are and they were the brains behind barca for a long time. We have a blueprint, it has been developing for the last 2/3 years and is why bobby got the boot. There are many bosses, we are a team. From the director of football, to paddy with the EDS and Manuel. If you don't like the method, then you know where the door is.

You could argue, and its why Im putting this across, that you need to mix your game up when you have injuries and come up against a system like today that you were not expecting. For me, I say stick with how we do things. Instead we need to look at where we are strong and where we are weak, and replace the players that don't deliver. The football we play is often outstanding and with a fully fit/firing squad I think we win this league.

We do need to look at the weakness though. Like not being able to defend, or take set pieces. How our play is generally central, and our strongest side is down the right. For me we need a new left back that is as good as zabba is on the right. He is the best full back in the world, genuine. The academy may eventually answer it, but atm when we are missing parts of the chain like yaya and nasri then we cant replace them, and still play the same way.
We have had fucking terrible luck this year, and today is only one game. We are still well in the mix, but we need to keep our best players fit if we are going to defend the league.

Its swings and roundabouts, we are top team, have good days and bad days and today was just a bad fucking day at the office.

The first half was dreadful. Giving the ball away time after time. No attempts at goal. Awful.

Second half we started better but once again a schoolboy bit of defending cost us and after that there was only one winner.

Arsenal deserved their win even though at times they weren't great either.

This has been coming for weeks with sloppy goals being conceded almost every game! We have given goals away in our last 6 matches....9 goals....way too many and 5 of them from set pieces. Do any other teams concede so many from free kicks and corners?

As for individual performances only Zabaleta and Jovetic did ok for me.

Milner was fucking awful and if he really thinks he is worth a pay rise he should watch that again.

Navas as usual had no end product.

Kompany was sloppy as was Demichellis.

The two ferns just didn't turn up.

Fernando is just an average player. I can't see what anyone sees in him.

Aguero on his own was isolated and unfit and it took the introduction of Jovetic to get us going.

It was just piss poor all around and Chelsea is now a must not lose. If we lose that we won't claw it back again. Out home record in the title wins was almost perfect and this season we have already lost 2 and drawn 2..... 5 less points minimum this season at home and they are not title winning stats.

Yaya is more important to this side than many think. Without him we lack control and power.

yaya was crap for ages, i think its only right he was criticised

He still gets criticized which amazes me, he is probably our best player and far more important than Aguero. He disappears to the AFCON and we get spanked 2-0 at home because we are completely ineffective in midfield, no surprise really. How we are ever going to replace him when the time comes is completely beyond me.

Clichy, silva, well done looked like you wanted to win! The rest shocking! Vinny needs a kick up the arse cost us 2 goals today! Passing was awful we must be the only team with 2 brazilians in midfield that can't pass! Both are squad players at best and we need a holding midfield player like biscuits bringing in the summer! How the fuck are we going to replace toure? Navas, milner will only ever be good enough as cover so we really need to look at that area in the summer! Jovetic
Just not good enough and slows thd play down to much! If there's an offer on the table take it! Thought pellers got his selection wrong today but will never slack the man off he's a fantastic manager! There you go rant over don't think we're out of the title race but we can't really afford defeat at chelsea! Here's hoping ivory coast fuck up in group stage!

well he played against burnley and stoke if i remember rightly and wasn't great then. He is one of our best players, but we still have performed great without him. He's not the reason we lost what we had on the pitch today should be more than good enough to win.
