City v Arsenal Post Match

It is fairly obvious where it was lose today and all the other games!!!!

Set-pieces are our biggest weakness I mean take today no-one defending properly in the box when it is whipped in!!!
Look at all the other games where we let in from set-pieces

1. Bunley from Free-kick = GOAL
2. Sunderland Jack Rodwell header from corner = GOAL
3. Everton Naismith header from free-kick = GOAL
4. Arsenal well you know where I am coming from

The corners from us are not good enough and no-one wins enough headers in the box due to poor crosses or not attacking enough!!!

Wrong people being subbed off aka Milner and Fernandinho!!!!

Jesus Navas is massively inconstant!!

Fernando can't do his job right!!!!!!

Sergio and Vincent are very rusty!!!!

Let's hope we can fix these problems and do way better in the upcoming fixtures cause we need to get results in order to retain the title!!!!

Really surprised by some of the comments today. I thought we were much better than them today, but we lost. Shit happens, Play that 10 times and we'd win 7 or 8 of them.

They defended well, but created little. By and large, we controlled the game.

Agreed.

We didn't control the game.....we never stretched them or put them under pressure.....we might have had the ball for 70% of the game but the play was always in front of them.....this is half City's problem...lots of passing left and right but nothing creative enough to make a difference...even Pelle said this in his interview after the game........a few teams this season have been able to do this on City this season....let us play and pass it around, then catch us on the break......we really need someone else in the middle when Yaya not playing......we lack, power, pace and direct play when he isn't in there....

Keep hearing people going on about promoting eds players to the squad like this barker, lad, well maybe it's a bit soon for them as they are still raw talent but maybe sometimes a young player like this can have an infectious effect on the rest of the team, and at least from seeing bits and pieces of this lad he isn't afraid to shoot From outside the box,and really how often do our players do that...

Sorry, but we must have watched different games. Arsenal controlled that game. They cut off our only creative outlet, Silva, and we therefore created eff all. We constantly gave the ball away, and yet again conceded silly goals without posing any real threat at the other end. They looked dangerous on the counter. If controlling the game means having a fair bit of the ball (probably Arsenal's tactic) and doing sod all with it, then yes, we controlled the game.

We can't put any gloss on this: it was a very poor performance indeed and we have simply to shut up, take it on the chin and be ready for the odious Wenger to gloat. Fortunately we have home cup tie against championship opposition next week and this has to be used to get those players returning from injury match sharp for the looming game with Chelsea. I have been worried about the game with Arsenal all week, because Sergio, Edin and Vinnie were all returning from injury Vinnie hasn't played since December 6, Sergio got 20 minutes last week for the first time since December 6 as well and Edin has been out since November 8, with one short return at QPR which lasted long enough to see him injured again. Added to this are the absences of Nasri (yet another calf injury!) and Ya YA. Arsenal are not the best team in the world, but they are good enough to take on a weakened team including 3 players with half an hours football between them in the last 14 matches! But taking on Arsenal without a single striker could never even be considered.

Up front Kun had no explosive pace to take advantage of the cumbersome Arsenal central defensive pair and we had no aerial threat at all, Silva had no-one to play those delightful balls down the channels to and, not surprisingly we didn't have a single shot at goal in the first half. We had a lot of possession but lacked penetration. At the back we were poor and, at times, shambolic. Vinnie was slow and clumsy and the penalty was a direct result of this. Whether this contributed to Martin's uncertainty no-one knows, but his distribution was poor in the extreme. The low point of our defensive performance was the second goal. Think of Everton's equaliser and shout "snap!" Three Arsenal players managed to get goal side of our back line, none of them marked by any sky blue shirt as our lads seemed to look at each other to see who was going to defend and leave a free header for Giroud. Vinnie and Martin seemed to have split to let Arsenal through! That was just bad play and cannot be put down to lack of match fitness. We,ve looked poor at defending two goal leads often theis season: today we couldn't defend a 0-0 or a 0-1, and only briefly, at the start of the second half, did we look as though we MIGHT stand a chance of getting back into the game. I don't think it's fair to criticise the manager's selection - it's exactly the team I would have picked - but it is the case that this is not a game we were equipped to play at this time. It is simply to be hoped that we don't pay too high a price for it.

Best post so far............^^

+1

Again the weakness in squad depth is exposed where we take out Yaya and Nasri and we are a top 4 team at best.!!

We have three creative players. More than enough. Who in the Prem have more? Chelsea without Fabregas and Hazard would probably be challenging for 4th

Those who want Yaya gone need to give themselves a slap hugely important to our team.

yaya was crap for ages, i think its only right he was criticised

Fact - City have not won - in the Prem. - since April -without Yaya.
