City v Arsenal Post Match

There's a simple reason as to why we aren't defending well. It's called pellegrini. Our full backs are expected to overlap all game which leaves us constantly exposed on the flanks. Not that i think this unduly worries Manuel. he feels we can outscore anyone. A bit simplistic a tactic in my opinion. If we concede first at the bridge than we are in a real conundrum. I'm not sure defending set pieces is as big an issue as some think. we hadn't conceded from one at all this season up until a few weeks back. It's lack of concentration for me which leads to this giving the ball away needlessly shite, sometimes when there is no pressure on the player at all.
We have a fortnight to get this out of our system and prepare for the chavs. A win there will do so much more than cut the gap, it will sow the seeds of doubt back into their minds whilst re energising our challenge.

I was at the game and 10 mins before Arsenal got the penalty I said to my mate "Arsenal are going to get a penalty here". Zab, Kompany and MDM had been at it for the first 20 mins with their silly body checks, pushes and miss timed tackles. I can only think it stemmed from Kompany running round like a headless lunatic from kick off, he has done this before can only think is the frustration of being out injured.

The squad cannot keep carrying shit like Fernando, Fernandinho, Milner and Jovetic they are an absolute disgrace so far out of their depth, we get away with them if say Toure, Silva or Aguero are having a blinder but they were completely shown up today.

grow some balls. A disgrace ?? for doing what.

Fernando - for allowing the opposition midfielders to "ghost past "him on every occasion and then rather than trying to chase back with the opponent commit the foul to avoid keeping up with play. In addition only passed the ball backwards or sideways.

Fernandinho - for passing the ball to the opposition with every other pass, being to slow in the tackle so giving away needless free kicks and not being arsed to track back when Arsenal broke.

Milner - for sucking the absolute life out of every City attack in the 1st half by checking back and checking back and then checking back again. Passing the ball into touch when looking for a blue shirt and running so slow that time almost starts to go backwards when he "ran" with the ball. Completely unaware of the runs of Silva and Aguero and not being able to use the space they create for him.

Jovetic - treats the balls at his feet like an unexploded bomb, never had the ball under any control and running into blind alleys on every occasion from promising positions. Taking up the spaces created for Silva / Aguero therefore negating them as well.

Its unfortunate with FFP as none of these would be near the team so our hands are tied but none of these would even be in the Chelsea squad never mind starting eleven.

Navas was our only threat to their defence

Missed Yaya and Nasri, and Aguero was well below par. The only thing good about today was that Aguero got 90 mins under his belt

Arsenal defended well.

I would agree he was pretty much our only threat, but he was an ineffectual one. Paradoxically, that's no threat at all.
I'm not saying he's a lousy player though, I'm saying that we've lot players like Johnson go because we wanted to raise the standard... significantly. He's in his second season with us now, but I can't say he's taken us to the next level down the right wing.

I don't particular want to single him out, as others were below par today too, but for me, he's not at the level required to play in a team challenging for the title and with CL winning aspirations.

When he arrived I thought his crossing was fairly impressive. It was good to see someone actually pick people out rather than just banging it in without looking. We seem to have successfully coached that out of him.
So frustrating. With a consistent end product he would be such an influential player for us.

Gave the ball to them about 100 times and I'm really getting really tired of Navas getting into a good position only to have no clue what to do next apart from smack a ball to them!

Soft Penalty decision IMO, i've watched it several times, very soft and Joe was unlucky not to save it.. Aguero was having his shirt pulled all the time, he does it once and gets a yellow??

Not defending the players by any means or the ref I thought we were very poor today. Think the team should be reminded that we are the Champions.
That free kick FFS I think everybody just went to sleep.

Okay we were shit today but I posted several weeks ago when we were 8 points behind Chelsea that if we come away from
Stamford Bridge no more than 5 points behind we will do them in the run in. I still believe that. All to play for. If we want
to be Champions again we need to get a result, even a draw, at Stamford Bridge. If we lose we won't win it and quite frankly
we won't deserve it. I think we will lick our wounds, regroup, and WIN at Stamford Bridge. BELIEVE.

So that s it, expecting it. MP did it again. You can call me a mug, glory fan or whatever you want, he is not proper for a big team. We could have won this game if he had just managed to put the right team into the field. He does it in every important game.. For God sake, when are we going to have a proper, fearless coach who can actually manage big games? It makes me miss Mark Hughes..

Milner's generally been a stalwart for us. Not a good game today, but out of their depth? far from it.
Jovetic today made a tangibly positive impact I'd say.
Are they world beaters? probably not, but to call them shit is way wide of the mark.

Yes, yes your probably right just so incredibly frustrated with the 4 performances today, any player can be under par but to be so far under par is hard to understand.
