City v Arsenal Post Match

The worrying thing me is our defence, all over the show this season, we joke about Uniteds being shit but we have now conceded more goals than them, no Mangala yesterday either.

Wont be winning the league or CL unless we address our problems pronto.

On the penalty issue its one of footballs anomalies that when a defender is shielding the
ball to let it run out of play for a goal kick he can do virtually anything to stop the opposing
player getting to the ball.Contrast this with a opposing player running at a defender on any
part of the pitch, but seemingly more so in the penalty box.A defender is penalised for standing
his ground never mind attempting to win the ball.
It would seem short of jumping out of the way of oncoming player a penalty is a highly
likely scenario no matter what the defender does especially if the attacker is looking for
a penalty.

The first half was as bad a match I have seen for a long time, both teams were awful. We picked it up second half but couldn't get that bit of luck or find the final killer ball call it what you want. Mangala should start with Kompany for all his downfalls this season he's got to start to get him in the groove so to speak. I see now people are seeing how important Toure is to us after all the Gary Neville bollocks after the Roma game, you miss one of the best midfielders in the world when he is replaced with two only good ones who are not in the top 10 of midfielders. Bad day at the office call it what you want but we've been in worse positions and still gone on to win it, come on City !

Maybe one of the referees that posts on here could explain why Kompany's foul (if it was one) was not simple obstruction? And If obstruction, wouldn't that warrant an indirect free kick rather than a penalty?

yeah i noticed that, not cool!

yesterday was a bad day for sure. I really cant see why people are giving up on the title given what's happened in recent seasons but i appreciate it really knocked the confidence from a lot of folk, being bullied around by Arsenal of all teams.

I expect we'll have another strong spell, but a lot of players have to have a bit of a word with themselves.

I don't get why everyone is swooning over how marvellous Arsenal were.

I thought they were pretty dire. They were set up well and defended well. That's the end of the positives.

They had 35% possession - which is about the lowest they've had in about 10 years - they created nothing, scored (imho) a very dubious penalty, and we gave them another goal just to make sure of the result. How many saves did Joe make?

They were dreadful. Burnley were better than that.

We were terrible as well, but I thought we were better than them and I don't think either side really deserved to win that game. Had we not been defensively incompetent (again) it would have been a 0-0 bore fest. We threw the game, basically.

We're having a bad spell at the moment and of course we're missing Yaya big time. We've got enough in our side to create chances and score even without the likes of Silva, Nasri, Aguero. But without Yaya we really lack that power in the midfield and Fernando and Fernandinho just aren't anywhere near the same level. The ACON as always gets in the way and whilst we know when it will occur it's a joke that it still occurs when it does.

Anyway... Chelsea play Liverpool on Tuesday, they can't rest too many and it's a case of hoping injuries and fatigue occur that may impact on their form. We closed the gap and have now dropped back somewhat but beating them puts the gap back to 2pts and it will only be a couple more games before Yaya returns and Bony arrives too. That will be a huge boost. If we can keep within 3-4pts then I think we can win the league. Chelsea have a lot of games to contend with and it will cause them to stutter – they still don’t use much of their squad. Their first 11 is set and plays most games.

We’ve dominated Chelsea in games and lost, it’s about time we beat them and I think we will. The same feeling that we would lose to Arsenal gives me confidence we will beat Chelsea. I really think we will win the league again this season.

I assumed the whole obstruction indirect freekick rule had been changed as I havent seen it happen for years.

When we play at our best we play a triangle passing game to expose space, the only players are Toure Merlin and Nasri who can do this all day long, any one of these are missing or off form, the triangle is gone, take away 2 were fucked, I've never seen anybody replace one of them successfully, add to that Kompany and Kun working their way back, not looking good for a few weeks at the most important period .

If this triangle is so important then....
1) Jovetic should replace Nasri
2)Pozo should replace Silva
3)No one can replace Yaya so we should have made a transfer about it (Hamsik for example)

Gutted as we all are that we lost, but just before i left for work I caught a glimpse of SSN showing the soft penalty followed by a clip of Milner being blatantly pulled down by his shirt about a minute before HT where we didn't even get a free kick or them a yellow. Fast forward to near end of the game, Aguero gets a yellow for tugging at Gibbs' shirt. I'm a very bad loser when it comes to City!
