City v Arsenal Post Match

Result never surprised me, don't think we have played well all season and have won alot of games thanks to individual brilliance.

Admit I havn't read all the posts, so it may have been mentioned. A few years ago we were crucified by the press and Arsenal fans for playing like Arsenal did yesterday. Ruining football ,came for the draw and snatched it ,were some of the nice things that were said. Come full circle now wonder what the press will make of it ? City fans being a bit more knowledgeable about it.are mainly saying well done Arsenal. Just a thought.

Whatevr elseyou can say about Arsenal, and their lovely fans, they did not come for the draw yesterday. They were comfortably the better side. And with only 35% possession as well. They deserved the win.

agree with that jim, not so much outplayed as out thought tactically

Kun, Vincent and Edin returning to match fitness, no Yaya or Nasri. effectively 5 players below where we could be for this match. If ever they were going to turn us over it was this match. They played it well. Keeps them in the hunt for top four and keeps pressure on United. A draw or better at Chelsea gives us a fighting chance.

Terrific weekend - City lose to Arsenal, Chelsea win by a large score, Utd win, Southampton win, Liverpool win, Spurs win, West Ham win, City U18s get beat 5-2 by Utd U18s and tonight probably Everton win.

Only light for the weekend was the City EDS beating Schalke 5-1.

The worry for the Chelsea game in 2 weeks is that the side we had yesterday is the side that must win there - Nasri likely to still be injured and Toure and Bony still in Africa.

There is still this feeling with City that despite the success in the last 4 years we are never far from failure again. Mostly after a tough period of results and performances we have been able to salvage things (interesting to see if we can do that again in the next few weeks via the Chelsea game and the FA Cup and then v Barcelona in Feb and at tough away games such as Spurs, Utd, Liverpool, Stoke and Swansea - we have not really played well since the WBA game away (first half)).

We still seem unable to push on just that little bit more that would make us a great team rather than a very good team.

Pellegrini has talked of Aguero and Silva challenging to be the best player in the world but sometimes performances like yesterday and against the very best teams suggest they are not quite consistent enough to reach the likes of Messi, they just fall a little bit short of that standard.

Thoughts also turn to the players we have brought in over the last 18 months and who would you say has been a resounding success ?

1) Negredo - good 1/2 a season but now gone (cost about £ 20 million)
2) Navas - hot and cold form (cost about £ 16 million)
3) Jovetic - hot and cold and injured a lot (cost about £ 22 million)
4) Fernandinho - good season last season but now at best average this season (cost about £ 30 million)
5) Mangala - poor overall with the odd decent performance (cost about £ 32 million)
6) Fernando - poor overall with the odd decent performance (cost about £ 12 million)
7) Sagna - poor overall - no cost apart from wages
8) Caballero - poor to OK - (cost about £ 4 million)

Have any of these significantly improved us and been much better than who they have replaced, and consider the large financial outlay for all of them.

Bony should from what we have seen at Swansea (fingers crossed)

City still a bit of a conundrum, can delight but can still despair also.

you missed the most relevent factor MOM... for december a jinx

1) Negredo - good 1/2 a season but now gone (cost about £ 20 million) sold 205 26 mil ink add ons and loan fee
2) Navas - hot and cold form (cost about £ 16 million)
3) Jovetic - hot and cold and injured a lot (cost about £ 22 million) played in his position he will be woth every penny
4) Fernandinho - good season last season but now at best average this season (cost about £ 30 million) he paid that fee with the EPL win
5) Mangala - poor overall with the odd decent performance (cost about £ 32 million) ffs !!!!
6) Fernando - poor overall with the odd decent performance (cost about £ 12 million) he was one of the 11 that played yesterday below par but still put in a shift
7) Sagna - poor overall - no cost apart from wages so a Freemans as back up.. is a bad deal ?
8) Caballero - poor to OK - (cost about £ 4 million) hmm

I would have to say I've been really disappointed with Fernando and Mangala....average to below average all season so far....I was hoping these 2 would make us solid at the back and improve our protection in front of Hart but that hasn't happened so far...When you watch other players around the europe come to the prem and do well and we are "happy" to give these players a season to settle in......I just don't get it.....when you pay close to 46mil for 2 players you should expect them to make a difference but sadly both have made mistakes which have cost us points this season and don't see major improvement yet....It's not the time to give up on them tho....we got to stay behind these 2 as City wouldn't have signed them if they didn't feel they could improve us but so far I'm questioning whether we could have done a lot better with that 46mil.....

After a defeat, I avoid the media/press for a couple of days as you know it will be a wank fest. Helps me get over the defeat.

I don't think you can say Arsenal came for the draw. They got an early goal, didn't really need to do much else due to our complete inability to create anything and happily accepted the gift we have them in the second half. It was then game over!

I thought it was an excellent performance by them to be honest and if we perform anywhere near that well at Chelsea I will be extremely happy.
