City v Chelsea (fa cup. 5 th round ) post match thread

This was an excellent team performance. We benefited from having a genuine DM, who also had a magnificent game, and from Milner's cooperation with his full back to keep Hazard out of the game and Zaba's much more selective runs forward. At the start of the season we all thought Chelsea were very short up front and we took advantage of them only playing one striker (who lacked pace) for Joleon to mop up while Vinnie could move into deep midfield to keep Willian, Hazard & co quieter still. Jovetic dropped back into midfield too to make sure Chelsea's two sitting midfielders never got the easy ride they got in the league match. Garcia covered Yaya very effectively and the big man was back to being a rampaging bull elephant with the footwork of a ballet dancer and the touch of an artist. Silva was all artistry, Nasri took up where he left off. And another Chelsea weakness resurfaced under pressure: David Luis's judgement in difficult situations is/can be suspect at the very least. The simple truth is that we were a better team than 12 days ago: they were worse. Our players were more aggressive and, despite injuries in much better form and we played with pace and at high tempo. The tell tale statistic is that they didn't have one shot on target all game and never looked like scoring.

That's how to completely boss a game. Think the players got a rest bite for last 15 minutes too. All looking
good for Tuesday.

Great summary there

''Garcia covered Yaya very effectively and the big man was back to being a rampaging bull elephant with the footwork of a ballet dancer and the touch of an artist'' - very nice lol :-)

Moanrinho's trash talk is starting to back fire on him,as it has only helped to fire us up,yesterday chelsea were totally outclassed in every department and again on top of silva's,toure's and kompany's performance i thought garcia had a fantastic match....

Luiz's foot can be seen behind Silva. Commentators said arms don't count in an offside decision, so onside for me. But it is a very close decision.
That is correct about his arm, but look at Silvas knee it is slightly off, this can be called off as the law states any part of the body that a player can score with mustn't be offside, that said the linesman would have to be super human to spot, Lescotts looked on to me too
His knee is perfectly on line with Luiz's foot.

FANTASTIC all round team performance, excellent result, as for MOTM, for me it was kompany, a captains performance all over the pitch, nothing got past him, garcia magnificent along with lescott, all of them 10 out of 10
Vinny by a mile. Simply immense yesterday. Nothing was ever going to get past him.

Re: Navas on Ivanovic

not Ivanovic, but Azpilicueta. his compatriot. i just loved Navas reaction to that incident.

When quality players are tactically outmaneuvered it doesn't happen a second time THEY LEARN QUICKLY ! Pell and the senior players identified where Chelsea were most dangerous from the league defeat and completely eliminated every threat tactically brilliant, totally dominant and a bigger pasting than the 2 nil scoreline suggests asking a few mental fortitude questions of Maureen and his squad for the run in at the same time.
