City v Everton Post Match Thread

not a great performance but certainly a gritty determined one Milner was awesome and Nasri and YAYA did their best to pull the strings after we lost Aguero so pissed off and it doesn't look good for the little genius There is no doubt the game against Munich has raised the confidence I just hope any negative result on Wednesday doesn't dent what we have witnessed in the last few games. when we have played more like champions

'That's why we're champions'.

Very impressed today.

We lost our current key man after 2 minutes and swapped his world class threat for a very very raw 18 year old lad who's only featured in a couple of cameos so far. It didn't bother us one bit. Very very strong and confident mentality displayed by the whole team, amd very well played young Pozo to.

Given we are still missing Silva, Kompany and Kolarov and Fernandinho was (strangely) absent again and we were up against let's face it a top 6 prem team, I thought we coped extremely well and controlled the game bicely.

What I particularly liked was that we won the game doing the least we had to. We preserved energy for Roma. Very good game management from MP and the players. I think having experienced heads like Demichelis, Clichy, Zaba, Lampard, Milner and Nasri around really gives us that 'know how' in games like this one. It was clear we also had another 1or 2 gears to go through should we have needed them.

Big shout by MP to go with Pozo but imo a shrewd move given Dzeko's lack of match sharpness and the need to have him available for Roma. Good call MP.

I thought Nasri was absolute class today. He wanted the ball constantly, he moved around intelligently, his retention was superb and he had a cooly controlled feel about him. Brilliant performance.

Given the Chelsea result an excellent 3 points and the gap is down from 8 to 3 in the blink of an eye. Let's se how November's Champions react now that we're within sniffing distance eh?

Barry should get a ban for that elbow and rightly so. Always been dirty bastards everton.

To be fair Milner made very little of it in his interview after the game, it's a mans game and i dont believe it was done with any intent to take Milner out.

Football is becoming a game for pussys these day, i love Milners attitude.

I'm getting frustrated with Yaya rolling around like a little girl every time he gets pushed off the ball as well.

Big performance tonight and a well deserved win, this could well be a key game come May. i'm just not sure which way.

I must admit I am starting to get slightly concerned about Mangala. I've been saying all season he will come good and I'm sure he will but right now he is the clumsiest fucker going. Just silly foul after silly foul and he was so lucky to not see red for his kung fu kick and if that was against us we'd have been screaming bloody murder. He needs to calm down.

You're worried and concerned about anything and everything. Stay in bed tomoorow in case the world ends yeah!

Grafted out a good win.

We missed Fernandinho's quick passing in the centre of the park today. We were a bit slow in there.

But still, even when backs were against the wall in the last section of the game we worked hard and got the win.

Milner and Clichy were excellent. Nasty played well for an hour too.

Not as pretty as the last 2 games but a big gritty performance only downside being the injury to Sergio. Not heard anything since getting home from the match but i reckon that's a serious lay off we're looking at. Time for Dzeko to step up.

Defence was very good today as you'd probably expect after keeping a clean sheet. MDM was superb using all his experience against both the speedy Mirallas and the unit of Lukaku. Mangala has some iffy moments but came through it relatively well and shows signs of settling down.

Midfield impressed me the most though and yet again it's because we played with a 5 man midfield.
Yaya was a unit in midfield today actually bothered to track back and seemed determined to drag us through, he's going to be a huge miss against Roma.
Nasri was excellent. I've knocked him a bit this season, questioned his output more than anything as i feel he doesn't do enough most games but he really stepped up today, took players on for the first time in ages and was inventive with his passing. Was my motm today.
Milner was his usual all action self, his determination rubs off on others at times and today was one of those times when we needed to dig in and stay solid.
Fernando had a good game shielding, made some outstanding blocks and took up some good covering positions still early for him not yet entirely convinced by him.
Navas was unfortunately disappointing again, his decision making and phobia of being direct and taking people on really lets him down.

Little mention for Pozo too. Don't think he's quite ready for the first team yet, especially not as the lone striker, seems more suited to a behind the striker role but he worked hard all game, didn't let Jagielka/Distin bully him, looked neat and tidy in possession and was unlucky with the one effort he got second half. Great experience for him, i'm sure he'll be buzzing after that and will really help him step up his development.

We weren't that great against Southampton and 3-0 flattered us
Funny post, it was our best performance of the season imho.

Up until Yaya scored with a deflection, the only chance we created was for Jovetic in the first half. We didn't create chances and Southampton had much more possession than we had. We caught them on the break when they went down to ten men but we definitely didn't dominate them and if that's our best performance of the season, where we can't control the game against Southampton, then I'd be very worried. We got the points though, but I'm much more impressed with the way we played today. Milner, Nasri, Yaya, there's too many to name - all of them were at the top of their game.
