CITY V FC Barcelona, Wednesday 9th Oct 2024, 8PM. Home leg. UWCL

I’ve only seen the highlights, but I was impressed by our intensity, fight and determination. Well done ladies, a great result. Bunny, of course, bagged another goal.

Not at all - think this was the best I've ever seen them play
This is the best game that the present squad have delivered, but it's been a long time coming. I suggested at last nights game that the squad we have at the moment are individually the match for the squad that contained Roebuck, Bronze, Houghton, Izzy, Toni Duggan, Jill Scott et al but never seem to play with the intensity to get into the opposition penalty area. I hope last night was the blueprint for the rest of the season.

The intensity was brilliant, but as has been pointed out, our tactics would possibly only work against a Barca type team who insist on playing out from the back. We could have been caught out several times if they'd simply punted it over the top of our press

Has to be said, those of us worried about his ability rotate are definitely having some of their concerns allayed.
Just needs to work on his substitutions now. Making 2 single player subs within about 60 seconds last night meant that we couldn't replace the injured Layzell and played the last couple of mins with only 10 players on the pitch.

Also found it odd that he took Park off for Roord rather than Miedema who looked absolutely goosed

Last night showed Taylor in a much better light than I have witnessed before.

However, I am not going to completely revise my thinking based upon the evidence of 1 performance.

I have previously witnessed indecision and lack of tactical acumen on too many occasions to believe that this aspect has been rectified.

Park looked pissed off to be subbed, and tbh so was I. She is fearless and a warrier.

Yeah, like all of the criticism of him in the past regarding how he makes use of his squad is fair I think. But we've seen a couple of glimpses that suggest he's addressing it
