City V Huddersfield Town Previous Games

Here's details of every game played against Huddersfield:

Our recent-ish record is pretty poor, with just one win in the last seven games but obviously a lot has changed since those dark days of the late 90s.

Still think that it's quintessentially City that we also drew with them twice and lost once in the same season that we hammered them 10-1.

Thanks Ric. It's very helpful to have the dates and the scores. I can see it was the January 85 game that my mate snowballed the Huddersfield keeper as he bent down to place the goal kick. The 2 nil win also rang a bell.

I reckon it was one of the other games in 84 or 85 that we were singing there's only one specky skinhead to the Huddersfield fan next to our end.

No they lost and Bradford (I think) lost to Portsmouth and port vale (not sure which played which?) and this kept vale and pompy up and relegated us, them and Bradford both fielded weakened teams I think
Huddersfield lost to Port Vale at home and one of their S/T holders that I worked with told me on the monday that the Huddersfield fans cheered the Port Vale goals as they knew that would send us down.

I'm sure we last played them away on a Friday night on TV and Goater equalised.
We were very fortunate to draw 1-1

Yep - February 18th 2000. Texted my mate the date last night and he said "How the fuck do you remember that?". They don't call me Statto for nowt. Having said that, my recall for specific dates of City games has waned a little over recent years.

Anyway, yes we were lucky to come away with a point that night - Huddersfield had a striker called Clyde Wijnhard (ex-Leeds reject I think) who was banging them in for fun that season and IIRC he put them in front before the Goat levelled. They had a very good side for much of that season - Bruce was their manager and they won 1-0 at ours the previous November in another impressive display. I'm sure they were top at some point during that season and were still in decent form when we played them in that Friday night game but then the wheels somewhat inexplicably came off big time for them and they went on a shocking run. I don't even think they made the play-offs in the end.

Edit - Just checked and their downturn had already started prior to the draw at theirs. They went top in December but by the time they played us in February they were 5th. They were still in a play-off spot though come the final game of the season but lost 3-0 at Fulham and finished 8th.

You fucker, you caused me edit my post to include possible 1-1 in case I was wrong.

Do you get your facts from the MuEN ;)
Looks like I got everything wrong with this game mate. You were quite correct that it was a 2-2 draw and then a 0-0 draw back at City.A second replay took place at Huddersfield on 25/1 which we won 0-3.
Old age is my excuse ... and I`m sticking by it. ;)

We took a huge following to the away game in 65/66, a time when cops were burly and not to be toyed with. These were also days when toilet rolls were thrown onto the pitch. There were a line of cops standing on the low wall above the terraces and some fans were singing "Ten blue coppers, standing on a wall" much to the disgust of the Sergeant in charge. One blue near me shouted some insult towards the cops but he didn't see the Sergeant point his staff towards him and let's just say the lad had plenty of mumbled warnings to scarper, which he just about managed. As for the game itself, I think it was a tight goalless draw but even so, going to away games then were more enjoyable than they are nowadays
Remember it well went on a coach from Reddish Lane.

In The Cow Shed early doors, police reinforcements called in cos it was getting very boisterous. City fans changed ends at half time & we're fighting with dibble on the open end all second half.

i remember going to hudderfields away and i think Mark Lillis score for them and they had a big stand like the kippax i think we lost or drew
Went to school with mark he was on citys books at 15 he got us tickets for the Coventry game that was played on the Wednesday afternoon because of the electric strike we all waged it sat in the north stand first time we sat at match happy days
