Very crowded, at a lot of away games in those days you found your vantage point and were rammed in unable to move (apart from if City scored when you were often moved involuntarily in a mass of limbs being jubilanty flung around).
A bit 'lively' in the streets around the ground that day. That town is one of many that I went to watch City and have never been back to (add Grimsby, Barnsley,
Port Vale...don't think that's a town though)
Remember at that FA cup match my brother having a warm feeling down the back of his leg at half time, some pissed up bloke couldn't get to the toilet in time!
Modern day equivalent is probably getting hit by a bottle of piss at a Stone Roses concert!
 
I was only 13 and couldn't go so relied on Piccadilly for updates. We were in extra time when I heard their immortal 'It's a GOAL' jingle. That celebration was as good as any since and shows how important a cup final appearance was back then.
 
Fantastic day, I always liked going to villa park but that day was amazing (on the video clip the ipswich player slipping onto his backside just before the final whistle is non other than Alan Brazil, always makes me laugh thinking about that when he is slagging us off on the radio)
 
I was in the Holte end but the odd thing is that I took a French exchange student we had staying with us and I can't remember struggling to get him a ticket. He'd never seen anything like it.
