City v Liverpool - Post Match Thread

You're right about them having the best of it before we scored, but you gotta put the ball in the net when you're on top.
Agreed. And you know what, it makes a great change for us to have less chances but find ourselves in front. Hopefully that's a sign of us being more ruthless.

The BBC is saying that it's our biggest win against the candle-wavers for 80 years.

But that was 5-1, so I would say it's our biggest win for more than 80 years. Maybe ever.

Just checked in @Gary James' complete record and we beat them 6-0 in 1935-36 with goals from Toseland (2), Heale (2), Busby and Herd.

Can't understand why nobody has mentioned Danilo, he was excellent today all over the park.

Him & Dino put a great shift in, he may be the signing of the summer..

If it wasn't for KDB then Danilo would have been MOTM. Outstanding in both positions he was in.

Up until the sending off it was an even game, two good attacking sides both with poor defences.
Otamendi was poor in that first thirty minutes and Stones wasn't much better.
We will never win the league with such sloppy play in defence.
what a load of bollocks , Stones played well, what sloppy play are you on about ?

Thought Pep got it wrong playing a back 3 and while it was 11 v 11 we were getting battered down our left in the space behind Mendy. Wasn't especially confident even at 1-0. But thought we were absolutely brilliant once they went down to 10 men, truly stunning football at times, although Liverpool's utter capitulation was a bit odd, why they didn't fancy fighting and getting something from the match at 1-0, I have no idea. Being down to 10 men was no excuse for how they performed.

Cannot believe that I drove home listening to all and sundry describing it as a debatable red card. Fucking awful stuff from our scouse biased media who conveniently seem to have forgotten the rules of the game because it was one of their boys who got the red. He didn't mean to do it?! I'm sure he fucking didn't, shame that it is totally irrelevant. I imagine you'd be hard pushed to find a ref anywhere in the world who would look at a replay of that and say that it wasn't a red but oh no, it should have been a fucking yellow and we somehow got a bit of luck! Listened to an interview with Klopp (I used to like him and cannot believe what a **** he has become since being infected by that club) and the interviewer was saying how she had seen Ederson around the ground after the match and he was saying that he had too. The whole tone came across like they were accusing us of cheating. Fucking disgusting stuff quite honestly.

A special mention for the liverpool fans in level 3. Absolute fucking scum of the earth. Been to best part of 1000 matches and can't ever remember fans booing a player like that when it looks like a bad injury, just not done. From a club that talks about the liverpool way and seem to think that they're a class act, they should be fucking ashamed.

One thing that was evident before the sending off was that we were really struggling to play through their press. It was shite in fact. We either turned it over or lumped it long. More work needed on that front. Dinho was very poor as the pivot, his distribution was not of the level required.

A more obvious red you will never see. Two feet off the ground, the highest foot over 5ft off the ground. If Mane had made an honest challenge he would have challenged with his head. Forget about the bollocks about having his eye on the ball. I'm sure like the rest of us, he has peripheral vision.

Did anyone else spot Mane kick the medical supplies bag of one of the medical staff who was on the pitch helping to tend to Ederson? Tosser.

As for the scousers booing Ederson....like someone posted earlier, not even United fans would have responded like that.

Fantastic result - the fluidity of some of our interplay is sublime at times. And threatening crosses coming-in from the full backs too!

Would love to know what Pep would have changed to sort out the Salah situation because until the red our defence couldn't deal with him.

#worrying times with Otta and Stones but hopefully that 2nd half would have improved their confidence.

But not as worried as Liverpool must be after that spineless capitulation on the pitch and rag-like "support" off it. Worst support we've ever seen? No doubt on today's showing. Wankers.

Liverpool stuffed 5-0. Wow!
