City v Napoli Post Match Discussion Thread

Have to say I fucking loved that game tonight top top quality game think a draw was fair result... Just got the feeling that that will be Napoli best performance in this group and will finish 3rd in the group. Their manager said treat it like the champions league final they did

magical night

napoli were never going to lay down for us and on another night the two off the bar would have been in the back of the net

In a strange way I think this is just the start we needed. A lot of players looked shellshocked out there tonight....Nasri, Lescott,Barry, Joe Hart (looked the most shell shocked) and dare I say it Vinnie. Valuable lessons to be learned.

It was something like a team of foreigners playing their first game in the PL (maybe a little harsh). We got a result...could have been better but I hope Mancini takes the incentive and reinforces the wake up call that was dished out to us.

Well played Napoli btw...

Ditto ^

i actually think we will have a better chance at napoli, I imagine them to play a bit more open at home and this should help us. Really looking forward to the rest of the games.

A bit slower on the build up and always vunerable to the counter attack but overall we were the better side by quite a margin.

Lacked the clinical finishing we have seen in the premier league so far and the quality of the opposition means you can dominate and come up empty.

Only bad luck and not converting the chances we create will stop us from progressing.

Our forwards seemed a little bit jaded and off their best game by some way but we created enough chances to win the game comfortably.

Defense wise we were exposed on the break a little too often for my liking but despite them hitting the post and a goal line clearance if Napoli were honest they would consider themselves lucky to get a draw.

We started well I thought but faded.

Napoli were very good. They came with a plan and it worked almost to perfection.

At this level you have to take your chances and in my view toure should I've scored although fair play he made the chance.

Mancini made three mistakes in my opinion. Not playing clichy and Richards and not making substitutions 15 mins earlier.

Silva and in particular nasri had off days.

I don't think Barry was 100% fit but why is he trying passes like that? He ain't Messi! That cost us the goal.

Bit of a reality check. We haven't played anyone as good as that this season so far.

Bayern is now a must not lose as the longer te group goes on the more the pressure will build and affect performances. I wouldn't fancy having to go to beat bayern to go through!

This is nothing to worry about (if anyone is). It was a tough match, and was always going to be, bar an early goal and Napoli heads going down.

Mazzari is an intelligent coach, they did a good job on Silva and Nasri, then they were always going to be very dangerous on the counter.

Every side in this group are close together i think, no-one really stands out as a minnow or a class apart, everyone will take points off each other. I think our quality will see us get through, despite our lack of experience as a team of playing against top European sides.

Nothing wrong with the fullbacks Macini played, width and crosses were there if only he'd switch Silva to the left and Nasri to the right, instead of this "two false-nines" tactic which Napoli completely stifled.

Really happy wit the result,of course a win would of been great but after going 1.0 down after imo playing better than them in the 1st half,i am happy with this result!

They played well, even better the 2nd half but i have no doubt we will go through,i think napoli is one of the hardest games in the group so...

Roll on the M***ch!!

Great game, I really enjoyed it. Good atmosphere thanks to strong away support.

I underestimated Napoli however they were a top side, one of the best team at COMS in years.

No complaints about how the team played: would have liked to have seen Richards and Clichy from the start, however they can't play every game and the flip side is they should both be fresh for Sunday.

Napoli are a very attractive side to watch, not your typical Italian outfit.

Glad the stadium didn't look too empty!!!
