City v Rags - Derby Day!!!

There are plenty of songs about utd, not one mentioned the "Rags", not in the last 50 years, even the CDs recorded which were full of abuse for that team. It shows it isn't the common phrase used by City fans.

I could imagine people thinking it is who read fanzines (or did) or go on forums, and then using it themselves. Same with the Swamp, never heard it called that until I read KotK.
OMG get over it. They’re called rags. Have been and will forever be called that.

I've called them the rags since picking it up from king of the kippax fanzine about 1992. My whole family does. Hate to say United, always say the rags. Just like saying the swamp.
You're right and it's gone on for years before that even. The earliest I remember was in the early 70's when they would come to our place pretty well represented (especially compared to the pathetic no-colours wankers that follow them around now).

They were fond of periodically belting out the song "come on you reds" which was drowned-out by City singing "fuck off you rags" to the same "tune".

But then again who knows - perhaps they were all fanzine readers.

It's strange because I've seen the derby on the Kippax, in the Maine Stand, the North Stand, the stretford end, the stretford paddock, the East stand, the South Stand, the Colin Bell and Wembley. Never once have I not heard the rags being called exactly that - the rags. It's a universally used appellation, so to mix in City fan circles and never hear it seems quite unusual.
It’s not unusual mate, it’s an impossibility …!

It's not a song it's just something us blues call the rag cunts..
Always been known as rags for as long as I can remember..it's actually very common to hear blues calling them rags.. especially at the games etc..
As for the swamp that's another one that's been around years too
