City v Rags - Derby Day!!!

Never confident with a derby, even less so with the form we’re in. They are fucking awful though so it’ll come down to whether we want it or not. I’d like to see Grealish, Foden and Kev, although I’m not sure he’d start Foden, with hopefully kovacic. I think Doku has to play too. He’s like a dog driving a car, absolutely no idea what’s going on but his ability to get past his man and his unpredictability will give them plenty to think about.

Haaland will play, but if he’s a passenger and isn’t involved he’s got to come off and we can put more legs in the middle.

If we play the same tactics as we did at times against forest we should be good. If we play sideways and backwards and think that arsing around with it on the edge of their box will win us the game then we could get nailed. They’ll play on the counter and it’ll work if we’re not on it.

Hate the RAG twats.
‘Like a dog driving a car’. Spot on

Every single person I know .. all proper mancs .. never calls them rags (call them a lot worse mind).

Not really heard the term until I came on here. A bit like them supposedly calling us 'Berts'. Never ever heard that in real life as well. Think it's an internet thing...
It’s not. It’s long before the internet. My Grandad used to call them Rags and said that’s what many called them back in the 1930s, 40s and 50s. From the term ‘jam rags’ that were used by women at their time of the month, representing their red kit.

It disappeared from use somewhat through the 60s, 70s and 80s. But returned from the 90s onwards.

118 not the matchday thread on here...
It's strange because I've seen the derby on the Kippax, in the Maine Stand, the North Stand, the stretford end, the stretford paddock, the East stand, the South Stand, the Colin Bell and Wembley. Never once have I not heard the rags being called exactly that - the rags. It's a universally used appellation, so to mix in City fan circles and never hear it seems quite unusual.
