City v Real Madrid post match

Overall felt very disappointed with the game itself, the pre-match atmosphere and flag waving was about the only good thing from last night.

I understand why fans are trying to put a brave face on the drab 0-0 result, but let's face it, Real will most likely put 3 or 4 past us at their ground, so tonight was a missed opportunity to at least take a lead with us and have something to fight for, rather than just meekly surrender, like we did last night.

like you have just done here

The result last night has given us a fighting chance next week. My biggest concern before the match was that we would see a repeat of our home games v Barcelona (in the last two seasons) where we conceded 2 goals in both games (only managing 1 goal ourselves).

It is still going to be extremely difficult next week, but we are starting the game level, with the added advantage that a score draw or a win on the night will be good enough for us to get through.

Fingers crossed we don't pick up any injuries on Sunday and let's see what happens!

Yeah it's a fair point about the two Ferns. Second half especially the class of Kroos and Modric on the ball began to tell. Funnily enough was sat there last night thinking shame we haven't got Yaya available for the last 30 minutes. He could've made the telling difference in a very tight game.

It was crying out for Yaya to come on a replace Kelechi. Obviously Yaya was not an option but it would have been tough for Pellers to take off Nacho and leaving us in that position would be my only concern about bringing Nacho on in the first place. I don't think bringing Nacho was wrong though: it didn't really change the team shape and KDB had already done some of is best work out wide and you can only have so much of a crystal ball.

It's rather ironic that as soon as he brings Kelechi on, something many have demanded all season, he then gets told by the same posters he got it wrong and shouldn't have brought the lad on lol.

Otamendi, man of the match for me and the hysterical way some reacted to his selection and the way Mangala wasn't playing, funnily enough a player most have mocked all season equally as funny.

Great team performance and result last night, make no mistake about it.

I would have started Manga but I'd have been wrong.

This is how i see it. We are still well and truly in this. I dont care if we win on pens. We got the formation and tempo spot on to start with and it was only injuries and players tiring that was swinging it slightly in their favour at the end. We need to regroup and go again, if its still nil nil at half time over there then the pressure starts to mount on them. I fancy us to nick it if we can keep the cleen sheet and the first 30mins of last night tells me that we can do that.

Imo the league games are equally important as I recon we have pretty much as good a chance of winning it if we are in it next season as we do now. Real, Barca & Bayern are not going to improve hugely on where they are now imo. We potentially can. No reason we can't reach this stage again, with a stronger team & better manager. If we're not in it, then we are chucking away a genuine chance imo.

Big Joe is great on penalties. We should play 1-9-1.

If it is 0-0 after 90 mins does it go to extra time and if we score in the extra time does that count as a normal away goal. I.e if it was 0-0 after 90 mins and 1-1 after extra time would it go to pens or would we win on away goals?

Spot on. Old fella next to me last night started abusing Sterling when Kelechi came on! So strange to see such animosity towards a young lad. Then again maybe not so strange knowing our history of killing players we don't fancy. Still he'll come through this and will be a monster player in a year or two.

(Some of) City's support has a long and disgraceful habit of scapegoating individual players.
