City v Southampton Post Match Thread

Great shift put in by the lads today against a team that had only let in one goal at home all season.

Reading the Southampton forum, they were impressed by us and so was I to be honest we seem to have found a bit of fight

Champions performance at last

Keep that up and we're back in the frame

Well done City

I was quietly confident we would get a positive result from this game but 3-0 was well beyond my wildest dreams. I was still positive until the 10th minute when Sergio was booked for having the audacity to fall to ground after his legs were hacked from under him. The thought crossed my mind that we would be undone by yet another incompetent referee. And then when he brought play back from the Saints penalty area for a free kick in our half because the clown of a linesman forgot to put his yellow flag away for an offside to a Saints player, I was convinced we would get done over.
But the lads showed great character and started to assert their class and gave Saints a lesson on how to play at the top of the league.
Sure we are still not at our fluid best but you cannot criticise the effort that players put in. Navas can be very frustrating and wasteful but at least he works hard. Still cannot believe that Sergio stuffed the one-on-one with Forster but he more than made up for not hitting the target with his two great assists - selfish, no way, a team player through and through.
Our back four against Sunderland will be interesting to say the least.

Good TEAM performance today to win a game where the ref was clearly bent.

Somebody needs to come out and explain how the hell the ref saw that incident as a dive by Aguero. Everybody makes mistakes, but that decision would have been disappointing from a schoolboy referee, never mind at Premier League level. Aguero deserves an apology from that muppet at the very least.[
And the apology should be "Sorry I f***d up, I've written to the FA to rescind the card, because I actually meant to book the defender"

Bloody good job I was sat down watching MOTD. Rarely get praise like that. Even spent a good section calling it how it is on how unequivocally shite Jones was.

I thought I'd finally gone insane so I'm glad it actually happened :-)

The good thing about such a public f@ck up by that ref against aguero is that it will make the next decision to give aguero a pen easier. Refs are influenced by other decisions (it happened in reverse with balotelli). It was also great to see how well Sergio handled it, I was worried he would do a snide kick and get sent off.

Nasri superb today can't believe anyone criticised him, he would be in our team every week if I picked it - his ball retention is superb as good as anyone in the Prem. Our performance was better today because we kept the ball better and the flow was better and he was a big part of this. Will also give Fernandinho props as like nasri he was all over and kept the ship sailing forwards. Great game and having nasri and Fernandinho back somewhere close to their best was a huge part of this.

Overall I think everyone played pretty well for probably the first time this season.

Congrats to Mangala who took one for the team and kept us on top when it mattered - just a pity the game ban counts for more after kompany a injury
