City v The Rags (merged)

its a terrible draw for them, the fa cup was the only realistic chance of silverware this season, not being glib i mean it, they now have major doubts about winning anything whatsoever.

oh sorry i forgot the community shield. massive.

Eliminate the negative accentuate the positive... and importantly consider the facts..

In the last five games they have ponced a measly five goals; We have scored 18. Nobody has beaten us at home for twelve months. We have home advantage against them and we just annihilated them at their own place. We also dumped them out of this competition last season. They are prone to having players sent off against us in games that matter because, they are the weaker and more desperate team..We are also current holders of this trophy and league leaders.. We are also breaking all manner of records (including goals scored). we have a better, bigger and stronger first eleven and a far superior squad. We are rightly the favourites to win this cup tie. The bookies don't lie. Our Management and players are relishing this battle, as I believe are many of us fans. Their management, players and supporters are dreading meeting us again. It has only been a relatively short time since takeover and we are already experiencing the onset of dominance over our nearest rivals.

I cheered watching the draw arrive. This is what it is all about; Winning big games against clubs with past glories, as we continue to create our own successes. Liverpool, Utd and Liverpool again, all at home: Relish the occasion. May this blue tide wash over everything that stands in our way. I said it when Mansour took over and I'll say it again; "Prolonged success and numerous trophies for Manchester City Football Club during the next two decades is inevitable." We have already witnessed the early stages and victories associated with Empire building...CTWD..Sorry for preaching to those that do already and for any doubters left, a single word: Believe.

Too right Kippax.

I've had a brief and rare visit to redcafe and one rag suggests that we only beat them in the semi and the swamp because of the numerical advantage. Laughable! Scholes reverted to type out of frustration at not having the legs to impact the game anymore. Evans got sent off because Mario was past him and he knew it. We'd have won both games anyway.
I don't think it will be easy, but I think we will win and win well, again.

Every United and City fan should be buzzing off this.

I totally agree... but sadly I'm not buzzing off it, even though I should be.

I know I should be putting my faith in the gaffer and the lads, and expecting us to go to Eastlands and turn them over... and in the last few cup ties against them over the last couple of seasons, that's exactly how I felt.

But the whole City thing is just getting me down a bit now... it's just appalling the way they've bought their way to this position, and I'm seriously worried that they are not far off totally dominating English football.

Sorry, I don't mean to be pessimistic, but I am. Can't help it, but I honestly don't fancy our chances at Eastlands. And unlike some here, I do care about the cup, and really want a good run at it.
Hopefully this is a passing malaise, and in a few days I'll be up for it. Hopefully City's current form will go much the same way before long too!

-- Sun Dec 04, 2011 10:50 pm --

About time they seeded this draw. Perhaps do it like Wimbledon, simply rank teams by position in the league/non-league hierarchy. Top plays bottom, second plays second bottom, third plays third from bottom, etc. That way the minnows would be guaranteed their big pay day against the top clubs, the top clubs would meet in big games in the later rounds, and the ridiculous draw-fixing theories would be put to bed once and for all!

Behave FFS.

This game is BIGGER for the rags than us for the first time I can remember! I hope we play our 2nd string and give em a chance because if we win this game by 2 or 3 goals it could be the down fall of BaconChops ;-)

NO NO for goodness sake NO!!!! Although we might not be pleased with the draw, seeding is the wrong way to go. there has already been a decrease in the interest to the FA Cup. Seeding the top 4, 8, 16, or 32 would make it WAAAAAY worse. The draw is just one reason why its compelling.....

-- Sun Dec 04, 2011 6:01 pm --

Mr. Pot I would like to introduce you to Mr. Kettle! Recently, I have had the distinct displeasure of dealing with muppets like this. They are probably in theor 20's and they first got interested in football in the early/mid 90's.....
