Re: City v United |Carling Cup | 6th Jan |Match Day thread

Against MU some strategic cleverness should be applied. Tactical resouces won't be enough.

I'd be very curious to see the strategic side of Mancini. Possession football is good but we don't master it yet like Barcelona. So some set piece / counter attack tricks may come to mind.

Psychological game is very important. Mancini is not Mourinho but he's a tough mentally too. And it may be a good thing he habors no MU hatred like most citizens.

Treat them like just any opponent. With enough but not too much or too little respect, I mean

Play our best soccer regardless of our opponent, is key.

This is going to be a very tough game regardless of what team Fergie puts out. I have a funny feeling Robinho will shine at long last and give us a slender lead going into 2nd leg.

Prediction 2-1 City

Robinho x 2

Will any of these:

Ireland, SWP, Bridge, Onuoha, Lescott, RSC

Be fit for this match?

If theyre not Id go with:

....................Given....................
Zabaleta...Richards...Kompany...Garrido/Sylvinho

..........de Jong..........Barry...........
Bellamy..........Robihno..........Petrov
....................Tévez....................

Bench

Taylor,

Garrido/Sylvinho,
Boyata,

Tutte/Vidal,
Weiss,

Ball,
Benjani.

Our main aim is to get out of this match without conceeding a goal, as away goals count double.

If we can win 1-0 at COMS then go to the swamp and score, we pretty much book our place in the finals.

We cant do what weve been doing a lot of this season and win 3-2 or something like that, we need to keep a clean sheet.

If were lucky we could set out like this:

....................Given....................
Maicon.....Kompany.....Chiellini.....Lahm / Maicon...Richards...Chiellini...Lahm

..........de Jong........barry............
Bellamy..........Tévez..........Petrov
....................D'zeko..................

Weve got 6 days to get 'em, C'MON CITY!

lol.

Imagine that, debus for Maicon, Chiellini, Lahm and D'zeko all in one match, all in a derby and all in our first Semi final in 30 years!

Re: City v United |Carling Cup | 6th Jan |Match Day thread

We'll stuff the scum like we did Arsenal.

-----------------Given-----------------
Zabaleta-Richards-Kompany-Garrido
---------De Jong-----Barry-----------
SWP-----------------------------Petrov
----------Tevez-------Bellamy--------

3-0 (Tevez x2, Bellamy)

After the game Tevez will get done by the FA for celebrating in front of the rags.

willl fergie put out 1st team?

3 weeks ago i would have said Yes. There was no way he would let us knock him out of the cup...but with all their defensive problems and hit and miss performances in the league i think well see an 80% Rag team...

Re: City v United |Carling Cup | 6th Jan |Match Day thread

How badly"injured" is Robinho? Maybe just his pride. He should start on the bench as his recent performances don't yet justify a starting place ahead of Bellers, Petrov or Tevez. Would love to sit a fit SWP playing but against Evra it could be a stalemate.
