CITY v Wigan - Official Match Thread

wenger must be pissing himself thinking about how much he's made from his ex players currently in city blue.

How should tevez be sent off? He jumped out the way and was nowhere near what's his name?

These clowns on ESPN are making me laugh. Both should have gone. To me he planted his feet because he knew he was getting taken out.

Ade was a pathetic limp rag doll tonight, apart from those moments that he summoned enough energy to run into an offside position.

We got lucky tonight with the red card and clown of a keeper but after last week maybe we deserved a bit - Sat won´t have anything to do with luck - please ffs leave Vieira on the bench and hopefully Barry will be raring to go - I´d play Tevez alone and go 4-5-1 Bellers and Jinky raiding both flanks

But we had two good penalty appeals turned down, one stonewall certainty.... thats not lucky.

These things work themselves out over a season, we've had our share of bad luck in games, enjoy the good fortune when it comes our way.

You reckon?

I think he couldn't give a toss and is more worried about his own team to be honest.

It wasn't a great performance, but nowhere near as bad as some on here have made out either.

Tevez and Johnson are quality - at such a young age, Johnson seems to marry his skill to a real footballing brain, which is a great sign. He's a top signing. Delivery sometimes slightly frustrating but you can see he's trying to do the right thing - sometimes the strikers aren't on the same page. That will come with time.

Adebayor, I thought, was quite ok tonight, and it suggested that Tevez and Ade can play together. Ok, he missed a chance, but was unlucky with a couple of offsides, worked hard, and just looked a touch off pace - as well he might having missed so many games.

Vieira, I see, has come in for some slagging off - unsurprising, but he did unlock the door for the first goal, and he tries to do the right thing and pass forwards - just gets it wrong a few too many times. Hopefully his passing radar will return with games, but either way it is good to get Barry a full 90 minutes' rest, and there's Ireland to come back, too.

Shame Zab will be suspended. With Lescott and Bridge I would fancy us to do it - without them, it will be tough, but 3 points at Burnley on Sat and it's very much on.

One last point - credit to Wigan, I enjoyed watching them play and Martinez really tries to play football, not hoofball. Whether that's a good option when you're down among the dead men is a moot point - perhaps not, given their league position! If you play like that away from home in the PL, you'll look pretty, but you'll get frequent beatings, unfortunately.

was more of an observation about our 'spine'. every successful team has a strong spine. at the moment, our's certainly doesn't.

Agree with you to a certain extent, but where Wenger is concerned he tends to move on pretty quickly.
