City Voice - Recognising and rewarding long-term members

I'm not having a go, but does anybody actually think the club will lower the season tickets? To me, it just seems like the club think we're absolutely buzzing after they annouce the finance bullshit and don't really care if it comes at our expense

You've said that a few times PB but it is wrong

Cardholders have no need to join the waiting list as they will get first dibs on relocation in the summer

The waitng list is for new card holders which is why they have to pay £100 up front
Oh right. Not the first time I've been wrong. They're clearly worried about something though otherwise they wouldn't be doing this.

Maybe it isn't so much that they are worried about something more that they are trying to do what everyone seems to keep clamouring for, and that is dialogue?

I used to go to the Points of Blue meetings as often as I could and still feel that that was a great way to keep in true touch with the fans. We also had contact with the Manager, I actually got my photo taken with Mancini just before one of those meetings (we arrived at the same time), that was the famous night when he promised us that he would 'drive the bus over the Mancunian Way to tear down the banner'! A promise he sort of kept in that the banner was torn down but he didn't drive the bus! :-)

I miss those days but I guess there are reasons, if only someone would explain it to us properly.

There will never be another Mancini!

The golden thread is affordable tickets. I offer to buy my brothers, who can't afford to go. It took a bumper game vs Barca for him to accept a freemans. Our poorer fans are still very proud and are true Blues!

I guess this is tipping point/crossroads time for the club and we will see if they practise what they preach about wanting to retain our identity. Most of the old fans have either gone or are teetering on the brink of going due to the ever increasing costs involved.

In the old days the club bent over backwards to retain our support because the football on offer was often dire with no chance of winning a trophy. Now of course it is a different ball game and we have people clamouring for tickets. So they can snatch their hands off and take their money or stick by what is left of the old loyal fanbase and maybe tempt some back who have stopped going.Your choice City!

As pellers-tastic said though, those figures don't include "broken service" fans so the figure is somewhat misleading. Like pellers-tastic, I too gave up my season ticket for one season due to my circumstances so I'd be classed as a lost fan, when this obviously isn't the case. I'm sure there are many, many more in the same boat.
I also wonder if it's suddenly dawned on them that the thousands on the waiting list are mainly just relocating or that the people being moved aren't going to renew at all.

Hope you're right Mr Flower as I'm one of the victims of the "premium seat" twattery and will be moving for next season.
Beware some gobby clown joining in with songs about empty seats and pointing at East Level 2 as that will be me.

I've been a season ticket holder since 1989 but I don't feel that loyalty is particularly appreciated - Im happy with the success on the pitch but I do feel taken for granted these days and the annual hike in prices makes it inevitable that at some future date I will decide enough is enough. I have a wife and kids to think about and when my ticket ends up at £1500 ( it's around £800 now plus all the add on's FA cup, CL etc) it's not about whether I can afford it's more about being able to justify it in a broader context. I'm in the CB sitting roughly in the same sort of location I did at Maine Road but I'm now being caught up in premium seating and sports cafes. The City I loved is slowly slipping away - nothing lasts forever and a new generation are taking over. It looks like shopping with the wife will be the future of my Saturday's - perish the thought. Football I think is at the height of its powers and popularity - there's too much of it on tv and sooner or later attendances will start to fall and ticket prices of approaching £100 will need to come down. The Premier League are trying to follow the NFLs model but the demand far outstrips supply in the NFL with only 16 game seasons (8 home games) and a richer variety of fixtures. The PL and the CL are pumping out the same product all too regularly to keep charging premium prices. City seem to play the same teams year after year in the Champions League. I guess in an era of rapid experiential growth city and other teams have gotten complacent but I wouldn't be surprised if this doesn't catch up with us and other clubs in the years ahead - will the happy clappers with cameras go to Colchester and Grimsby like we did years ago when/if we have a downturn in fortunes - who knows!

You don't have to be clever to understand the overwhelming feelings on this thread. If the club are reading this, and I'm sure they are(forward this thread onto Sheikh Mansour, Khaldoon, and Soriano), then they will know exactly what is needed to recognise and reward not just long-term season card holders/members, but City fans in general.

We all appreciate the investment from Shelkh Mansour, and we all thank him for that, but a distance has formed between the club and the fans. Social media is all good and well, it's the in thing ATM, but it isn't a substitute to for meeting and talking to the fans at events, and at an informal level.(and I don't mean carefully selected groups either)

Get the CEO, the Execs, the Manager, the players, out amongst he fans again. We want to meet them. We want to speak to them. Believe it or not, when that happens it makes us happy. It makes us feel good. It makes us feel like the club are interested in us as fans, as people, and dare I say it, as customers. *It makes us feel valued*.

*It makes us feel valued*

I think even in the City Voice thing they already understand what the people want - lower ticket prices.

They even said "apart from lower ticket prices" which shows that they knew that that is what they were going to get floods of.

some terrible ideas, coloured badges? nothing like "look at me I'm a better fan than you", Raggish.

The rewards should be purely financial to support fans who have supported this club when it's needed them, and need the help in return to attend games now.

Nothing else really matters, apart from protecting our fans from the likes of ViaGoGo, and our club's identity and kits from the likes of Nike.

I think a lot of fans need lower sc prices, without value gold I would have struggled to afford to keep my sc, price is a huge factor for many in the current financial climate. I don't do half as many always due to cost , not just the tickets but travel costs as well

I agree with a lot of your thread but ffs get a grip, shopping with the wife?

Fcuk that,do what I have started doing more, watch non league, you are so appreciated,no wanker stewards overdoing the nanny state and I can have a beer if I want as Im deemed sensible enough to do so!

I will be back in a heartbeat if it ever goes tits up as I love the club but as I have said before this could be the last one for me after 35 years of season ticket and 49 of watching.
