City vs Bayern Munich Post match Thread

Pellegrini - Tactically inept
Dzeko - Week and ineffectual
Hart - Woeful (Trying to make one handed saves, punching the ball & beaten on the near Post)
Toure - One of his many off days
Fernandinho - Why did we buy him
Richards - Not match fit

Totally demolished by a class team and a fantastic manager. Our lack of desire, organisation and passion was a disgrace. The engineer has had his fingers well and truly burnt tonight.

We've still got to play them again in Munich :(
If we're going there needing a point to qualify....

:-(
Next game's the key, if we beat Moscow away then we should come through as runners up quite comfortably. We definitely need to qualify before we go to Munich though...

Not much point in qualifying if the next time you come across a good team, you set up like that again and get battered.

Just got home - I can't believe how wrong Pelle got this. If he had done any homework what so ever he would have known that-

a Yaya and one other in midfield against quality opposition just isn't good / mobile enough
b Dzeko just doesn't cut the mustard against quality

He should have started with aguero up front on his own and either of Milner / Silva in midfield to make 5.

Making the mistake was one thing to do nothing about it when you could see after 15 minutes was criminal. I thought this guy was brought in for his tactical nous in europe (sorry i haven't seenanything to convince me yet). Then to make a like for like replacement as your first sub just compounded the mistakes.

He needs to wise up quickly.

We were completely outclassed tonight but we will pick ourselves up. I admire mp for trying to attack against them. Ok it didn't work but we conceded so early on from a shot that hart should have saved that any game plan would have gone straight out the window. Also with silva only just coming back he probably wasn't ready for a full game. I would have liked mp to make changes sooner but I'm not worried about him he will be great for us.
Tactics don't come into it when your team are in shock after conceding a goal after 5 minutes

And then just when we looked like we had them on the ropes, or were at least in the game we go an concede a goal

Yes Bayern are an awesome team. Their power is difficult to appreciate until you see them. Not often you see a powerful City team swept aside and physically dominated. And then there was Robben and Ribery

They will win the Champions League again. They should do

I feel we had it in us to give them a game though but we didn't look mentally up to it for long stretches

It's a bit annoying when you see how City started and finished the 2nd half. We just don't believe in ourselves at this level. We're not at Bayern's level, but Chelsea would have given them a game

Chelsea gave them a game with 10men !!!

Hands up tonight,we were well beaten by the 2014 CL winners, they were good.
Joey needs a wee break I think, still luv him though.
I watched Celtic v Barca last night,Celtic were unlucky tbh.Barca, not a patch on Bayern.
Different kind of football,Barca are getting boring to watch.Bayern aint.
We can still qualify for the last 16,so onwards and upwards.

Can't understand why it took so long for Pelle to realise that he needed 5 in midfield.

Why did he start Dzeko? Negredo has proven tonight that he should always start ahead of Dzeko. Negredo, Silva and Milner were the only players who could be given any credit tonight.

Bottom line is we were beaten by a better team but our selections, tactics and the officials didn't help.

Can someone who watched it on TV confirm whether all those offsides in the first half were correct?
Yep! Every single one of them was correct. Even the Aguero one that might have looked on side to someone watching it live was clearly offside once the replay was shown. The refs were spot on except on giving them too many fouls. But that is understandable, football is more aggressive in England than anywhere else.

The ref was on point all day today. Almost a perfect call from all of them. topnotch crew. Sad coz I often wanted them to be wrong, but they seldom were.

Too harsh on Toure, Fernandinho and Richards, all three played OK in the circumstances. At least there was a bit of fight, they were just overwhelmed. At 1-0 at half-time we looked as though we may have had a let off, but the next two goals killed us off, and there passing around us made us look like muppets. They'd have beaten any team tonight, but we can play much better if we had loaded our midfield to cope with their numerical advantage. The managers tactics were shocking and he didn't fix things until it was too late.

Disgusting. Players were shocking but the tactics and the manager are to blame for this abysmal performance and I really fear for us

the manager? seriously?
i bet you pele would have played with more heart than most of the money grabbing bastards playing today

he put the wrong team out to start and it was all, all wrong, everyone saw it, gary fucking neville started saying it after 10 minutes we needed another in midfield, and it was so obvious, and we never did until the game was long, long over. that's on the manager

I was happy with the lineup, but it didnt take long to work out that it wasnt working.

15 minutes I said we needed a sub.
