Sometimes you've just gotta hold your hands up and say, wow you're much better than us... They were awesome!!!
Indeed they were, I still believe we can go through to the second round but it won´t be easy.

This the champs league - we played the German champs who thrashed Munich 5-2 in the cup FFS they are good FFS they will give real a game FFS we got a point and FFS we will play better over there and they will not play like they did again this season. Even BAllack was shocked how ell they played tonight . It's a point it's still doable and until it is the team have to fight and fight harder than they did tonight - no time for wasters in this company - each game has to be a battle and each player has to give their all .
Not sure if they all did tonight really.
There should be players asking themselves what more they could have done- it was obvious some did not do it and only a small group did.
It's a team game and we watched a very good German team - but their heads went when we got the goal and they will falter again if we hurt them early.

You sound like Joe Pesci in a mob movie.

Can't win without Nasri, as seen before the Fulham game. Don't understand why he was submitted.

Second game back though we shouldn't played him from the start.

Not a rag at all, just very frustrated by how we're playing this season, especially as we played so well last season and haven't built on that. If you're happy with seeing us over-run and outperformed then that's up to you - I have higher expectations.

no im not happy, but sometimes you just have to admit that they were a good team and point is probably a good result in the end. No use in moaning about rvp....

This match reveals a few important things.
1. Nasri does not have the right work ethic or mentality to play for City. He is a loser and hid.
2. Yaya Toure really needs help in midfield against the better teams.
3. You are really missing a world class centre back. Kompany is off form and it shows.

1. Yes he has. But he isn't a winger! Yet another player who is played out of his natural best position. He would be fantastic as a playmaking centre midfielder.
2. Agree. Yaya should never again EVER be played as a defensive midfielder. That's like playing Messi at centre back.
3. Yes. I think Nastacic looks great and looks like he could turn out to be a fantastic signing.

We did not play as a unit tonight, nor have we for a while.

I think in Yaya, Nasri and Garcia we could have one of the three best midfields in Europe, and the optioons we have up front is on paper almost too good to be true. Our defence is okay, but very thin. If Maicon again reaches his potential he'll be a great addition.

With out current sqaud I think we could play like this and ought to be very successful at it.

----------------------- Hart -------------------------
------ Kompany -------------- Nastacic ---------
Maicon ------------ Garcia -------------- Kolarov
------------- Yaya ------------ Nasri --------------
--- Tevez ---------- Aguero ----------- Silva ---

Interesting view on Nasri. He does get isolated on the wing. Why not try him at centre midfield?

Yaya seems cumbersome playing defensive midfield. The absence of Nige is keenly felt. There was a huge hole in the middle of the park and they occupied those spaces.

Definite lack of speed in the team and this is being exposed ruthlessly. Particularly in midfield.

One we were overrun in midfield it puts awful pressure on the backs. Zab was one of the best.

Not sue what the answer is. The transfer window didn't help. I have never forgotten what Tolmie said in one of his posts. To paraphrase we are a good team but not a great team. That's why we needed to find quality during the transfer window. Unfortunately this did not greatly improve what is a good team.

The midfield holes really need to be addressed ASAP.

Mancini is clueless in Europe which is a different kettle of fish than the PL.

Dortmund looked miles better yet individually they are not better than City.

It's going to be hard to qualify as you are going to have to go to Dortmund and most likely win to qualify.

2 years and not making it through to the knockouts is not good enough with the squad you have.

Wasn't your team playing tonight?.

I think Dortmund have shown us tonight what picking out a decent system and then signing players what suit that system can achieve. Its the same with Juventus playing their 3-5-2 the reason it works is because they have the players that suit that system. Tonight has just shown us that we need to find a formation that can suit our most influential players and build around it. I understand the need for a plan B but IMO that should be simple and going 4-3-3 or 4-5-1 depending on the circumstances. I doubt anyone would disagree that 4-2-3-1 is our strongest formation but We get away using this formation in the premiership as a lot of teams play defensively against us but in Europe we will be found out. The main problem we have is that the system is impossible to fit all of our best players in it whilst getting the best out of them. To successfully use the 4-2-3-1 I think you need a solid back 4, two composed holding midfield players, two fast tricky direct wingers, one playmaker and a poacher up front. Now we do have certain players who will relish playing this formation however I think we will not get the best out of players like Yaya, Nasri, Tevez and even to some extent Aguero.

Yaya is IMO the best midfielder in the premiership by a mile however I think he struggles in a midfield 2 and by playing him in the advanced role it means we have to play Silva out of his best position.

Nasri I think he plays to narrow to be on the wing in the formation and does not have the work rate to allow Clichy to constantly bomb forward. I think in the formation he would suit Silva's role but is he not as good as Silva.

There are better options than Tevez and Aguero to lead the line for us as Dzeko and Balotelli are more suited to playing as the lone striker. I do think Tevez and Aguero would play well in a 4-4-2 but that leaves us in a catch 22 situation as players like Silva and Yaya don't suit a 4-4-2.

Overall I think we signed players based on their ability at previous clubs without looking at their adaptability to our formation. Dzeko is the perfect example of this as if he were at Spurs or United he would be a 30 goal a season striker. And untill Mancini decides to drop a few big names unless they adapt to our formation then we will not go far in Europe.
Great post cant argue with any of it.

Some of you forget that Garcia just joined us on the deadline. Give the guy a chance he will be class just let him settle. Same thing with Roswell when he plays good everyone saying how his going to be incredible and when his shit ppl don't like him. Lol
