the treatment of milner is disgraceful

Spot on! he should be starting in midfield before Rodwell and Garcia for me never given the chance I don't know why

Absolute bollox

We do this every time. Play Milner, play Milner. Then Milner plays and everyone realises that he is a midfielder with no passing ability. The cycle repeats when Milner sits for a month. Fans forget his limitations and we're back to "Milner, Milner" when some other Yaya sidekick with the same problems looks poor.

Have to say both our fullbacks were very poor.
Zaba was immense and Clichy (best left back in the league imo) gets fuck all support from Nasri.

agree wtf.........

I see the Rag idiots are out in force again

That was a great game of football, and it was clear we were playing a really top team.

I was relieved to get a point because we went to pieces in the 2nd half, but don't forget how well we played for most of the game. For the first hour both teams created chance after chance and I thought whoever got the 1st goal would go on and win it

I don't know how we are going to recover in time for Saturday. Fans will help

I thought we were well off the pace tonight Marvin.

The players looked slow and lacking any invention and creativity.

Most of our better chances were from long balls over the top.

Dortmund did all the passing , slick movement and ran us off our feet for the majority of the match.

As for recovering , I really don't think that should be an issue in modern day professional football.

Can the likes of Nasri , Clichy, Kompany etc really say they put in a decent shift tonight?

Only one player seemed to turn up tonight for City and we all know who that was.

The players should be chaffing at the bit to get stuck into Sunderland after this effort.
Clichy was injured - showed how much attention you paid

Why people think we need more time to develope in this competion? Look at Spurs or Malaga now. And I'm sure even PSG will have better results. Or AC with players like Mexes or Urby in their starting XI.

After seeing Joe Hart almost lose it in his interview and seeing Mancini almost smile and joke about that travesty of a performance... I am going to go ahead and say it:

If City go out any sooner than the Quarter Finals and don't look odds-on favorites for the EPL, Mansour needs to sack the shit out of Mancini. These players (except Rodwell, and Nasri), that have been assembled for this amount of money, DESERVE to be playing CL football and challenging for everything.

Silva, Toure, Aguero, etc not playing CL football past the group stage and being forced to play on Thursday in the Europa League is not acceptable.

Dropping out of the CL in the group stage two years in a row (Regardless of how tough the group is) and dropping out of the League Cup in the 3rd round is unacceptable. Fucking Tottenham managed by Droopy face made it to the knockout stages their first time out.

Why waste Milner on the bench then ? We are making his career miserable ! If he isn't good enough then we should let him go and get someone like Vidal or Fellaini .

I think this group is a bridge too far for us and we need a few more years to develop in this competition.

Saying that we are still in it and should keep fighting!

We've got to keep fighting , i agree , but already the writing is on the wall ....

Real Madrid have one of the qualifying places practically sewn up already , and Dortmund are already one up on us , and we still have to go there ...... this is a team who have lost just once in 32 matches !!!!!!

And if anyone thinks Ajax will be a walkover they could be in for a shock , but Dortmund will stand a better chance of beating them than we do .....

Have to agree ... Nasri WAS an embarrassment , no wonder he was taken off .

He's not a winger. He wasn't at Arsenal and he isn't at City. Goetze and Reus showed tonight what attributes wingers need to play in a top team. We're as predictable as we were last season in terms of our attacking play. Against inferior opposition the sheer weight of quality wins the today. Tonight against a better a team we needed different options and we just didn't have a single answer.

Agree with all this. We didn't have another option because Mancio champions diamond-style formations which typically preclude much wide play. When faced with a brick wall in central midfield, you have to swing the ball around from left to right, and vice versa, quickly, and then use pace on the wing to move forward. Maybe Sinclair might have been useful in the second half for this purpose. Instead, we persisted in trying to dribble through BVB's brick wall with no success.

I was really surprised we didn't make a run at Lavezzi before he left Napoli. He would have been a perfect player to give us different formation looks, but instead we got rid of AJ and brought in Sinclair, who has great pace but is not a great crosser and overall, lacks end product. Even so, I would have deployed him out wide on the right with Kolarov on the left for the second half.

Everyone knows that BVB are the best at pressing other teams high up the pitch, so I was surprised that Mancio didn't seem to account for that with his opening lineup and formation. Klopp outmanaged Mancio badly in the first half. Then, we went to a back three early in the second with Kolarov, but Rodwell made the bonehead pass to gift a goal, and then it was right back to a modified four at the back again. Mancio will be second-guessed endlessly for this, but in truth, it was Rodwell's carelessness that ruined the plan.

Boy, do we miss Nigel...not to mention Milner. Oh, wait, isn't Milner still part of our squad?!
