City Vs Borussia Dortmund (CL) Post Match Thread

Great performance from Dortmund. They will be gutted they didn't win that.

Hart was superb. They could have easily had 6 or 7 with the clear chances they created.

Yaya awful for us and with out of his depth Rodwell next to him we had no chance 2nd half.

Dzeko average starting again. Maybe supersub suits him better. Silva sloppy again.

We are going to struggle to get out of this group on that evidence but at lead we still have a chance.

The poor transfer window is costing us big time.
Did you watch the same game as me. As I thought he looked back to his best. Apart from the miss. But ye I thought he played excellent.

I think this group is a bridge too far for us and we need a few more years to develop in this competition.

Saying that we are still in it and should keep fighting!

We've got to keep fighting , i agree , but already the writing is on the wall ....

Real Madrid have one of the qualifying places practically sewn up already , and Dortmund are already one up on us , and we still have to go there ...... this is a team who have lost just once in 32 matches !!!!!!

And if anyone thinks Ajax will be a walkover they could be in for a shock , but Dortmund will stand a better chance of beating them than we do .....

If we cannot advance to the Round of 16, I would prefer that Ajax finish ahead of us, so that we miss those wonderful Thursday night fixtures in the EL. I'd rather miss that comp and concentrate on the league and the FA Cup.
If we miss out on CL then it could be a good oppurtunity to play some of our youngsters.

I see the Rag idiots are out in force again

That was a great game of football, and it was clear we were playing a really top team.

I was relieved to get a point because we went to pieces in the 2nd half, but don't forget how well we played for most of the game. For the first hour both teams created chance after chance and I thought whoever got the 1st goal would go on and win it

I don't know how we are going to recover in time for Saturday. Fans will help

I thought we were well off the pace tonight Marvin.

The players looked slow and lacking any invention and creativity.

Most of our better chances were from long balls over the top.

Dortmund did all the passing , slick movement and ran us off our feet for the majority of the match.

As for recovering , I really don't think that should be an issue in modern day professional football.

Can the likes of Nasri , Clichy, Kompany etc really say they put in a decent shift tonight?

Only one player seemed to turn up tonight for City and we all know who that was.

The players should be chaffing at the bit to get stuck into Sunderland after this effort.
Clichy was injured - showed how much attention you paid

He was replaced in the 81st minute and didn't look injured to me when he came off.

He was poor in the main for the 80 minutes he played.

What is the nature of his injury?

Yaya was limping for most of the second half but wasn't substituted for some reason.

Again if we can't dominate Sunderland and have a comfortable win on Saturday we have got some serious problems that need fixing soon.

Hart was immense.

Zaba had a good game I thought.

Aguero started brightly but tired.

Pretty much everyone else was fucking woeful.

That's the worst City display I've seen for a long, long time. If it hadn't been for Hart we'd have lost that by 3 or 4 goals.

Special mention goes to Yaya who simply must have borrowed someone elses feet tonight, if you'd never seen him play football before you'd be forgiven for wondering whether he'd get a game for a pub side.
Yaya had a poor game but it happens, I´m more concerned of Kompany tbh, all over the place at the moment.
He made a few minor mistakes, but he was also immense at times

I don't know what game some of you watch at times

If you thought Yaya was immense at times tonight I can only imagine you were watching replays of a previous game rather than the one taking place at the Etihad. He sprayed a few passes about, but he did very little right tonight.

sick of how fickle some of our fans are, one week garcia amazing and the future of our midfield next week hes shit make your mind up.
This

Exactly some thick fans fail to luck past the odd bad performance.

We looked quality at fulham but didnt show tonight.

Mancini will come down hard and "fix it" like he said.

Our fans need a backbone.

Dortmund proved tonight why they have won the Bundesliga two years running. What a brilliantly well drilled and well organised team. They moved easily and effortlessly through various formations, closed down Toure and gave him no space (that fact Toure was having a shit game anyway probably helped!) and the way they doubled up on Silva showed they'd done their homework properly. They were a class above anything I have ever seen City play and were a pleasure to watch. If in the Jan or summer window we go after and get Reus, I will be a very happy bunny - he was superb to the point of almost being unplayable.

I thought Silva, despite being closed down at every opportunity still managed to show some glimpses of his old self; Zabba was good; Aguero and Dzek worked tirelessly with little service or reward.

However, as I'm sure as has already been mentioned:

JOE HART

What a fucking keeper!! Absolutely breathtaking.

Decent first half. Started with a lot of energy and fight but Garcia going off seemed to change the game in their favour.

Second half we were shocking both in possession and without it.

Lucky to get a draw.

Some of you forget that Garcia just joined us on the deadline. Give the guy a chance he will be class just let him settle. Same thing with Roswell when he plays good everyone saying how his going to be incredible and when his shit ppl don't like him. Lol

He is a very good player tidy has a pass and ill back him to the hilt but watch him in his defensive duties you have to track runners or they get through you and either score or make a chance for another player.

I think Yaya had the same problem maintaining possession that Silva and all the rest of our mids had - every time he received the ball, there were 3, 4 or 5 BVB players around him, in close proximity. Swing the ball around the back from side to side, then utilizing pace on the wing. Sinclair ain't much, but what he can do well is run really fast and finish. Mancio simply must wrap his head around the issue of pace on the wing. We can purchase another pacy winger in the January window, but the manager has to change his mindset about this, also.
