City Vs Bournemouth Pre Match Thread

Why have people been constantly whining on this thread? It's been going on all bloody week. Negative Nellies, ffs.

It's a pain in the arse, the injury situation, but if we haven't got a squad that can absorb sufficient injuries to beat Bournemouth at home, then we're in trouble.
Don't you worry Pam, some of us have faith in the squad :-)
4-0 would be my prediction.

Nice to see Vinny come through 60 mins unscathed. i'd go - Hart, Sagna, Vinny, Otamendi, Zaba, Fernando, Yaya, Navas, De Bruyne, Nasri, Bony

If Nasri isn't fit then push Yaya behind Bony, Fernandinho alongside Fernando and De Bruyne on the left.

for me if a 1st choice player is fit they play, but i have to admit the Fernandinho yellow card 'situation' is an interesting one. I feel he has definitely been instructed to be more of a breaker this season, yellows are coming his way, and i'd really like him to play in the derby and not get booked against Bournemouth. With Fernando stepping up his game you could argue that it's ok to drop Fernandinho for the B'mouth match but you could also argue that if dinho plays this weekend and gets booked then Fernando can cover in the derby too. tricky, must admit i dont know about this one.

Fernandinho flying back from South America today will come into it as well. Fernando and Toure should be enough against Bournemouth.

I don't like the idea of not picking a player because he's one yellow away from a ban and the next PL game is deemed to be more important or difficult. It risks under-estimating Bournemouth and over-estimating United, possibly resulting in dropping points in both games.

I think there's more of an argument for juggling the squad on the grounds that players are returning from International breaks and there's also the Seville game to consider, so fatigue must be a consideration.

Must admit I'm not sure what involvement in the internationals some of our players have had and when they're likely to return, especially the South Americans. Have Fernandhino, Otamendi & Zabaleta played for their countries?

Fernandinho unused sub in both qualifiers for Brazil.
Otamendi 90 mins against Ecuador and Paraguay (feel he will make way for Vinny)
Zabba unused sub against Ecuador and 90 mins against Paraguay
Demi unused sub in both matches

The injury situation has clearly become more complex with Aguero and Silva, two players hardly replaceable, out for at least the next 2 or 3 games. Even Kolarov being a doubt with no specific LB to fill in is far from ideal.
Yes, we have a big squad, but we still rely on our core (Hart-Kompany-Yaya-Silva-Aguero) being fit and playing a string of games together. Over the years that has hardly been the case and we seem very unlucky in that area.

Happy to see Kompany having a few very usefull minutes under his belt. After injury a player needs matchminutes to get back to being matchfit. He got them, he was a bit rusty, yet playing for Belgium it was not affecting us. So fine by me. Nasri, coming back from injury, will need minutes but probably start from the bench. Zab of Sagna to fill in at LB and playing one of the two Ferns is of less concern, even with Fernandinho a yellow card away from a booking i.e. missing the derby. Let's hope Bony will take his chance with a few back to back starts.

So in a way the team will pick itself. Let's hope injuries and internationals travelling will not affect us to much and we can take 3 points from this one.

A tough game, I think, factoring in the last week.

One player not being mentioned is Delph, he has been training well last week or so and could really be a factor over the next week.

I assumed this game would come too soon for him. Would be a bonus to have him on the bench though.

I genuinely think a fit Delph takes our midfield up a couple of notches, in terms of legs about the pitch and his ability to pass?

Perhaps he might be fit enough to give Fernandinho a breather at the weekend.

Would love to see Delph and Fernandinho together in Europe and against United, we're gonna need those legs.
