City Vs Bournemouth Pre Match Thread

There is a strong argument to rest Fdinho. He’s played almost every game and two international breaks in South America. If we can pick from Yaya, Fdo and Fdinho with Delph needing 30mins from the bench then we should be able to rest Fdinho to make sure he can go into the next two with fresh legs.
I’m less fussed with Mangala. If he gets a card we will just have to play Komps and Otamendi for the next 2. They could well be our best pair and Sevila would be an opportunity to test it pre derby.

Is there a chance we could use maffeo at right back? Zabba played 90mins Wednesday and has only just come back from a long injury! Maffeo would be fine with navas in front of him!

Regardless of the Fernandinho situation, I'd like to see Fernando play. He was showing some fine form before the break, dare I say glimpse of the form which earned him his 'octopus' nickname. If Toure is fit then I'd go for Toure and Fernando. If he isn't then I'd start with Fernando and Fernandinho, instruct Fernando to take on the main role of breaking up the play and then switch Fernandinho for Evans once we feel comfortable. I genuinely feel that if Toure is injured and Pellegrini knows about the Fernandinho booking (I'd like to think he does, but after that CL gaff...), we might actually see Evans get some minutes.

Then again, we're talking about Manuel, he'll probably stick Demichelis in midfield.

He would 100% do that. If he had that much faith in Evans we wouldn't have seen Demi come on in that role for a handful of games already this season. He brought Evans on in the 90th minute when we were 4-1 up against Sunderland in the league cup, he should have had him on at half time IMO!

Manuel seems to go for experience rather than position and I suppose we have to respect his judgment on that, with him working day in day out with the full squad!

There is literally 0% chance of that happening.

He has Sagna available to play there if Zaba isn't fit, Mangala would replace Sagna at LB if that was the case. Don't get me wrong, Maffeo could be a good player for us, but he is miles away from first team standard!

Maffeo was on the bench earlier in the season when we had 1 RB and 1 LB and that was it for full backs. He had a few chances to come on i.e. he was on the bench when we were ahead in games but Pellers didn’t give him that opportunity. On that basis I don’t see him playing unless we get right down to the bare bones.

Rest and not risk Fernandinho.
Won't be an easy game but i'm confident of a win.

4-1 City - Bony, Sterlingx2 and KDB
