LOVE EVERTON FORUM QUESTIONNAIRE

Hello again City fans.

Hope you are in good spirits and enjoying the football. If you would be kind enough to share a little opinion / banter for our forum questionnaire once again, I'll be grateful, and will post all responses in our match thread.

We're still in our infancy stage, but we've got quite a lot of members from each Prem team, and would welcome City fans into the mix respectfully and warmly.

http://www.loveevertonforum.com

1. Your thoughts on the season so far ?

Disappointing, save for stuffing the rags

2. How happy were you with the transfer window?

Reasonably happy at the time, although top drawer cover at centre half was a glaring omission that we failed to address. Would also like to have seen some searing pace up front and down the left flank, but we went for different qualities with Negredo and Jovetic

3. Your thoughts on your managerial change ?

Again, reasonably positive at the time, but a few doubts have emerged since. Certainly tactically we seem very inflexible and unable to cope with teams pressing us high up the pitch, and the manager doesn't seem to be responding to what is an increasingly frequent problem, especially away from home. Early days yet though.

4. Your thoughts on Evertons managerial change ?

Very positive. Good manager espousing good football. Would have been quite happy to see him at City

5. Everton have beaten City 9 times in the past 12 meetings, losing twice only, so why do you think this is?

Quite simply Moyes sussed our weakness very early on and played on it. We had no width under Mancini and struggled against anyone prepared to park the bus and harry our creative players. Everton were past masters at it. Plus we were congenitally incapable of marking Tim Cahill

6. What are your thoughts on the possible shift of domination from Manchester teams to Liverpool teams this season?

Domination?! Blimey, someone's got big ideas on the back of their 6 game unbeaten streak! In all honesty though, I couldn't give a toss about anyone other than City. I couldn't care less where Liverpool or Everton finish, so long as it isn't above us. For the record though I think Liverpool will finish top 3 if Suarez and Sturridge stay fit, and that City and United could both easily miss out on a top 4 spot, if they don't sort themselves out. I don't think Everton will finish top 4 either, but I think they'll come closer than they've ever done, especially with Lukaku at their disposal. Chelsea must be mad letting him go.

7. Is Gareth Barry likely to stay at Everton now, and were you sorry to see him leave?

Yes and yes. The most underrated player in Premiership history. Fans of other clubs all ridiculously judged Barry on the basis of one horror show moment in the Euros when Mesut Ozil skinned him alive, but the reality is that he's one of the best defensive midfield players in the business. The only question mark is whether his 32 year old legs can stay the course of another long hard season. He's got zero pace and struggled badly last year against teams that pressed him. Ironically Everton were one of those teams. For the most part though, he's a class act and most City fans can't understand why we let him go, even if his wages were high.

8. Predict the score and the scorers.

I honestly think you may well beat us again. Martinez had our number last year, and I'm expecting 4-5-1 again with our midfield given no time or space. If Pellegrini matches your numbers in midfield then we've got the talent to tear you a new one, but so far this season he's stuck rigidly to 4-4-2 and we've been overrun on more than one occasion as a result.
I'm gonna go for a Desmond, Ya Ya and Sergio for us, Lukaku and the shit Bradley Wiggins for you

Much obliged.

Look forward to the game as always, and wish you well for the season.

Thanks bud.

Any more lads?

1. Your thoughts on the season so far ?

Mixed. Very good and very bad

2. How happy were you with the transfer window?

Very happy.

Only criticism is we have too many forwards. Dzeko should have been sold as it may hinder the integration of the othr forwards

3. Your thoughts on your managerial change ?

Happy. I liked Mancini but I think his management had run its course.

4. Your thoughts on Evertons managerial change ?

Not sure yet. To soon to say. Wait until you have a bad spell and see how he deals with it. Managers like Phl Brown and Owen Coyle had golden spells.

5. Everton have beaten City 9 times in the past 12 meetings, losing twice only, so why do you think this is?

Just one of those things. We have had other bogey sides eg Boro. Maybe Everton relish playing us,and know you can win.

6. What are your thoughts on the possible shift of domination from Manchester teams to Liverpool teams this season?

Don't be ridiculous.

7. Is Gareth Barry likely to stay at Everton now, and were you sorry to see him leave?

Very good player for us and massively under-rated by the football world, but glad he's gone. He's too slow and gets caught in possession or gives free-kicks away.

8. Predict the score and the scorers.

Difficult after our very txing midweek game. How come we're playing Saturday morning after a Wednesdy night.

If City score early big City win. But if you frustrate us, we could suffer from recent bad results. I'll go 3-0 City

-- Fri Oct 04, 2013 12:38 am --

Not sure Silva will last more than an hour. Pellegrini said he was only good for 1/2 an hour against Bayern

I'd be surprised if Silva didn't start against Everton unless he didn't pull up as well as he would like.

All being well if we have the game well in hand in the second half we can sub him.

You can be sure he will get 180 minutes for Spain in their next two games.

He doesn't always start for Spain or play a full 90 mins.

I think Silva will play a role against Everton, particularly as I don't think Navas will start

Some really interesting points in here but not sure about Martinez having our number. They beat us in the cup final obviously but that was the first time they'd scored against us in 4 seasons!

this game for is nearly as bad for me to watch ala utd such is my dislike for everton

unable to call due our poor record, last game and their excellent start

navas and two up top will leave us light in the middle and everton have a decent enough midfield to cause us problems

here's hoping for a 4-5-1 to be able to control the game

Will it be "bad day at the office" or "manager needs time to bed in" or "a step in the right direction even though.."

This will be one excuse too many to look forward to
I can´t wait
the players need time to get used to the new system...me thinks.

I agree, and push Toure further forward and only play one proper striker.
Nail on fucking head, why cant the manager see this ?[/quote]

Ah .. we actually agree then!!
So why indeed the fook doesn´t he?!! Does he know what system he wants? Will it work? The above point is one thing nearly all of us agree on here but the wizard engineer can´t spot it. So why not just say " hey I hold my hands up - I´m experimenting and I screwed up"
No he doesn´t and that leaves many of us wondering whether he really has any concrete ideas on how to set up whatsoever

TheFriendlyEvertonian wrote:Just throwing a couple of ideas about, but in a game where you are surely expected to win, why not go at it with a 3 back formation, as Pellegrini seem to like his 2 strikers?

Zabaleta -------------------------------Kolarov/Clichy

Shhhhhhh,,,,,,,,,,,,,that´s thinking out of the box pal and we wouldn´t want MP doing that now would we?!!

We need to show a true statement in this game against Everton now.

We need to start with our strongest line-up and put in a performance better than the one we showed against the rag scum.

It does seem that the priority at this moment in time is focusing on getting out the group in the CL, which is a must this year in order to improve our UEFA ranking. But this should not be at the cost of affecting our league form.

Pellers is still looking at finding his best team IMO, we have seen navas and zaba link up well but we have not seen silva or jovetic yet due to injury.

Like a few have said on here our best formation seems to be 4-2-3-1 but as mentioned we are top heavy with strikers who will not want to sit on the bench much so pellers is still tinkering to find that solution.

The Bayern game was a harsh lesson learnt and we should be aware of the away leg and play a counter formation because pep has them set up exactly like barca were in his days with the exception that they are stronger in defence.

1. Your thoughts on the season so far ?

Frustrating. We've shown that we're capable of very good football but have suffered some very disappointing defeats.

2. How happy were you with the transfer window?

Looked good at the time but it could be that we placed too much emphasis on the strikers at the expense of defensive cover.

3. Your thoughts on your managerial change ?

Reserving judgement, although his selection and lack of intervention on Wednesday is worrying

4. Your thoughts on Evertons managerial change ?

Like Martinez

5. Everton have beaten City 9 times in the past 12 meetings, losing twice only, so why do you think this is?

Moyes was very clever at exploiting Everton's animosity towards City's new found wealth. Possibly because it could so easily have been you.

6. What are your thoughts on the possible shift of domination from Manchester teams to Liverpool teams this season?

Ask me again in March

7. Is Gareth Barry likely to stay at Everton now, and were you sorry to see him leave?

Would have liked him to stay but only as a squad player. 80-85% of his performances are in 7/8 out 10 category. The problem is when he has a bad game it tends to be an absolute stinker. Not expecting him to return to City

8. Predict the score and the scorers.

1-1 Lukaku and late equaliser from Aguero
