so seeing the english champions play at only 60% of their ability was acceptable was it?

In fact yes it is. From Liverpool in the eighties to United more recently champions don't always play at 100%.

Personally thought we played well. Got ahead never looked like conceding, could have won 4 nil. That is what champions look like.

why the obsession with a clean sheet?

i'd rather go for it, score 4 and concede one than sit back and win 2-0

apart from when they hit the post i assume?

considering we won the league on goal difference, we seem happy to do the bare minimum all of a sudden

Last 5 games, 5 wins, scored 14 and only conceded 3 and they were in the one game against Norwich.

Bare minimum?

during the Arsenal game we looked scared to attack after going 2-0 up (which was dangerous to do so early in the game) and today we didn't try to play i felt. This timidness is a bit worrying, and a sign that we are not as good as we were last year.

Not sure what game you were watching. I was at the Emirates and we controlled the game. Benefit of early sending off helped, but at no stage would i describe us as scared. Again a sign of Champions is digging out three points with a clean sheet whilst perhaps not at our best.

If we create as many clear cut chances in every game as we did today then I won't be complaining. Another goal or two today and everyone would have been raving. Once we got the second today we played some lovely football and only the finishing stopped it from being a thrashing for them.

we could say this about the majority of our games this season though. 'Could have been a thrashing'. 'If the finishing was better'. We need to start putting words into action

Probably a bit harsh to say 'shite performance' though, eh ?

Wasn't a shite performance .......

we didn't really give a Premiership side a look in on our goal , and we DID create a number of decent chances ..... but it was certainly a subdued performance , other than the last 15 minutes or so , and the game was never a classic ..... it was a pretty mundane game , played on a grey , cold day.

But it's getting the points that matters ... every team that wins the title has games like that , don't they ????

have i just read a post that said champions don`t win 2-0 at home after scoring in the 2nd minute???

bwahahahaha what a load of old shite...

give me 15 scrappy 1-0 wins to the end of the season......it`s all about getting points, fuck how we get them.....

Shite performance, i couldn't help but come away feeling a bit disappointed.

Champions don't win a game 2-0 at home after scoring in the 2nd minute. Really should have showed more impetus and played how we can.

We don't need to do anything of the sort, you need to realise that football is not some computer game. Just browsed a couple of threads and you've slagged off Milner and Garcia, plus winged about what was a pretty good performance all round, seeming to think twatting a premier league side is a piece of piss, because
believe me, it isn't.

Anyone without sky blue goggles on can see we are going Backwards
Premier League is shite so we can get away with giving the ball away
In Europe we have been punished by good sides
Usual flaws today, no urgency or tempo
Its not going to be Guardiola but Mancini won't take us any further!

Well summarised. FIFA 2013 my deliver 18-0 wins, but the PL is the hardest league arguably in the world. 2 clen shhets away at arse and home to cottagers is league winning form

-- Sat Jan 19, 2013 8:51 pm --

FFS! Honestly :{

Some whiney arsed mard twats on here. You'd think we'd just lost instead of winning 2-0 and keeping them to just two shots off target all game.
It could have been more but for some poor finishing. We were comfortable all game, no fuss, no drama and at no point did we look like conceding, 3 points and thank you very much.
Put your fannies away and stop bleating.

Well said Stony. FSS some unbelievable whining on here. God help some of them if they had been with me away in Div 2 on a January Wednesday night!!

We are ahead of everyone else , and we are only a matter of a few points behind a side who are probably enjoying their BEST EVER Premiership campaign , with regards to points gained so far , so things aren't that bad ....... and THAT side are STILL in the Champions League , and might just win it too !

We did serve up some abysmal performances ourselves in Europe , but it's probably fair to say that MOST City fans would rather have another title success , than a Champions League success at this point in time , and that's still achievable ..... next season , should we qualify , will probably see a much improved European campaign by this club.
