LFC fan here. I know i will get abuse but I thought i'd give my reaction to the game

Firstly, you deserved to win. No debate there.

But, did you purposely sit deep and let us have all the possession? I think it was a great plan by Mancini, we struggle to break teams down. So sit deep and keep it tight. Try get a goal before half time and then counter attack.

First goal, very poor goalkeeping. Should have saved it. I think im right in saying that Hart had just saved from Downing a few minutes before.

2nd goal is the most disappointing. If we had gone in at half time 1-0 I think we would have brought Gerrard and Bellamy on earlier and MAYBE the game would have changed.

3rd Goal was an excellent run by Yaya (What a player btw!) and i think he went down a little easily but Im just glad it wasn't a red card!

Overall, disappointed with the result. Bearing in mind we didn't have our best 3 players starting I'm not disappointed. Take the best 3 out of any team and they will suffer. Anyway, I look forward to our games in the CC, beware of the away leg, it'll be like one of those champions league nights we had a long time ago :D

P.S- Please win the league! I hate those Dirty (red) Mancs :)

Decent post fella.

Has to be said it helped you that you had a 12th man in black.....

Haha! I know, he didn't give you anything at all. Thought the sending off was harsh as well.

the possesion bit has been our problem in the last few games. in my opinion we have attacked too much in stead of letting the other team try to play then hit them hard

Okay...

And on Carroll, I think he will come good. If you saw him Vs Newcastle when Gerrard came on, his performance was much much better. He needs someone with a really good cross and he will be a the player you saw at Newcastle. Oh, and Downing is shit! He look petrified of Richards! (who can blame him, the guy is a TANK!)

Seems fair to me. Yes, I think after the second goal, we decided to sit and counter.

You played very well tonight. I'm looking forward to the Carling Cup games now!

No abuse, I think your points are all fair. In fact I was impressed by Mancini's tactics...and surprised. We didn't hustle for possession as we usually do, I'm guessing because RM knew that we'd smother any approaches on the box; you really do have problems up front without Suarez.

First goal could happen to any keeper. It's happened to JH in recent memory, can't remember the occasion of the top of my head. Second goal was indeed poor from your point of view. That's when the game was clinched, I reckon.

Third goal was professionally engineered by Yaya. Even to me, a life-long City fan, it wasn't a penalty but, having given it, the ref should have shown red. Funny emotions going through my head at that point.

Down to 10 men I think RM did just the right thing and by that point it was wrapped up.

Really looking forward to the LC semi. Great if we win but we've got nothing to lose. Going out won't be a disaster as 'bigger fish' is a phrase that comes to mind, but another final in less than 12 months is a great prospect.

Happy days!

I'll be completely honest with you. I can't tell if Carroll is horrible or if he simply doesn't fit in your style of play at all.

Fair enough post.

If I were a Pool fan I would have liked to have seen Gerrard start. Even if he's not fully fit, he could always be subbed later on.

By the time he and Bellamy were brought on it was already too late.

Your problem with Carroll is similar to the one we sort of have with Dzeko - neither team plays a system that suits the player.
