City Vs Liverpool Post Match Discussion Thread

I think Liverpool's style of play was awful, it was long ball after long ball to Carroll and was like something I would expect to see from Bolton or Blackburn. Liverpool have always played football but they seem to have given up on that philosophy which is a shame but to be honest as a club they are in a bad place and pretty much heading the way of Leeds United.

That is a very harsh comparison. If anything, we are on the up. We played that style of football because we were missing our best players.

You take Aguero and Silva out of your team and you suffer (Vs Sunderland)
You take Rooney out of United and they suffer (Vs Blackburn)

We will see where the two clubs are in 5 years. But I honestly think we will be a massive force in English football.

Listen fella, you're the first side this season to have the better of possession at our place - whether or not that was a tactic from us is obviously open to debate.

You play good football and retained the ball well but without Suarez you have fuck all up front, your "success" will depend entirely upon whether you can add to your strikeforce - even having N'Gog would be a benefit at the moment!!!

Depends who you get as a manager and players. More players of Enrique and Suarez's skill, and you'll succeed. More Carrolls and Downings, and the top 4 isn't a reality.

Agreed. They're desperate for a compliment/replacement for Suarez.

The first time this season we did not dominate possession but City fielded a lot of players who played at Sunderland so that explains that. And Liverpool flooded the midfield.

When Downing broke through I thought we were in for a long night, but they proved to be toothless.

Given that we played twice in 3 days I thought City were brilliant tonight. Not much flair but so much determination. The players deserve a lot of praise for that performance.

Liverpool are in trouble. They wont finish 4th if tonight was any guide

Yeah you missed Suarez massively and he could of made a difference but I think we world of still won, it'll be interesting where Liverpool will be in 5 years time because this summer you have to go again and buy quality players and that will cost plenty! If your club don't get top 4 are they in a position to spend another 100m thus sumner?

I am pretty sure taht was the tactic. The midfield was obviously under orders to be cautious today.

I think that was the right tact, not most exiting but it got us out of that blip in style.

I called it at 1-30pm today (you can check) 3-0 no danger I said and a 3-0 win with no danger it is. Liverpool got every decision and still couldn't break down 10 men

3-0 next week as well no danger

Liverpool as a club have been deluded throughout the 90's leaving their ground and not expanding it and now it seems the fans are deluded. If you can't see that your best player is an ageing star Gerrard and your manager is also ageing.

Your desperation to get back in the top four will lead to an overspend as you have done on Carroll, Henderson etc this is exactly what Leeds Utd did and looked where they ended up.

To be honest you were heading for the championship last season before a very dubious court case forced gillet and hicks to sell.

Get real or you are finished.
