Some big calls to make for Tuesday: who partners Kompany? Do we go with Demichelis again for his positioning and tactical composure, or Mangala, wary of their speed in attack these days, and look to play a physical game which they might not like?

Either way I think the 2 should start together on Saturday, I don't believe in needless rotation and disruption, when they have just had a generous break!

Also those saying Bony should start are way off the mark. Navas, Silva, Nasri and Aguero will start, guaranteed (bearing injuries). If Pellegrini does go 442, then I hope Sheikh Mansour spends the duration of the game formalising the termination of his contract, and has it faxed through in time for the final whistle.

Of course for Saturday I don't think Bony will start either, not least because we have too many midfielders playing well. I think Milner, Silva and Nasri for this one, although could well be Navas given how important he is to the structure of our team going forward.
Bony is the one player above all others who would give me cause to hope against Barca. They may not be able to play against his power and his presence would enable us to play one out and out striker with Aguero a little deeper.

To beat Barca over two legs, we need to score at home

But that's not for another week yet. Newcastle is very important in its own right. The League is still in sight and we need to win. Stoke away proved that they players are still up for it, even if the Hull game suggested otherwise. Chelsea look far from invincible

Marv. I cannot see Pellers going 442 against Barca, so on the premis it will be 451 Bony or Kun?

suicidal move if he does, one up front the only way to go

i assume kun to be the lone striker with bony off the bench when it goes tits up or coasting 3 up

for saturday just can't see bony starting its not the pellergrini way
it will also be interesting to see how he goes as it will be a fully fit squad to pick from

He came off against Stoke though didn’t he so I’d be happy to let him sit this one out just in case.
We do have Dzeko, Bony and Jovetic who need games too so I’d def give Edin another 90 and let Bony make his home debut. Bring Jo Jo on for Bony after 65min. If we're drawing or losing then Kun may need to make a second half appearance.

He came off against Stoke with a small knock to his back which apparently is fully cleared up. We badly need the points from this one so I'd much rather start with the same attacking line up that played Stoke + Yaya, start hard and fast, get ahead and then get Kun and one of Nasri/Silva off.

We shall see what Pellers decides then. Kolarov and Yaya will both play as they wont play against Barca.

Why wouldnt Toure get picked for the Barca game? He'll be in a CM 3 wont he?

He's suspended.

which might be a blessing in disguise, forcing another roma type set up

Personally think MP will to 442 and look to get control of the game fairly early on and then rest players for the Barca game.
My team would be:

Hart
Zaba
Kompany
Demi
Kolarov
Yaya
Dinho
Navas
Silva
Aguero
Bony

Hoping we're up for it and can gain momentum for the Barca game and the rest of the season. Aguero, Silva and either Navas or Dinho to be taken off and rested for Barca and Bony to go the 90 minutes

Team for Barca:

Hart
Zaba
Kompany
Mangala
Clichy
Dinho
Nando
Nasri
Silva
Navas/Milner
Aguero

Hopefully he'll go full strength but if you remember last year we were pretty much full strength apart from Aguero and Milner but he decided to play Kolarov instead of Nasri on the left.

Gael for Aleks..... then the rest the same as agin stoke.

Wilf,Yaya & Frank to get a decent run in the second half to give Kun,Dave &Jimmy a break.

Some difficult calls for the coach.

The players have all had a decent rest. Full strength for both games and try to build on the performance in the 2nd half at Stoke and gain some consistency. I'd go full strength for all games while we are still in with a chance of a trophy.

I can see Zaba on the bench for Barca, other than that, agree with your selection wit Navas over milner. We need to be rock solid at the back and Zaba is a little off colour at the moment
