City vs Palace - Post Match Thread

Too simplistic an analysis.
Many positives but the defence was not solid for the first half hour and we could have conceded two goals ( remember West Ham).
Great result though.

You are not wrong but this is the premier league and to think you can restrict sides to no chances whatsoever every week is just pie in the sky.

Yes they had a great chance but our keeper made a great save, exactly what he is there for and he is an integral part of our defence which kept a 3rd clean sheet on the bounce today and our 10th in total in the league so far this season.

MDM was once again very poor in the 1st half before settling down a bit in the 2nd. I really hope we can recall Denayer from his loan with Vinnie and Mangala out. Otherwise, City might need to look for a transfer to fix the CB issue.

The most pleasing thing about today was it was like the City of old in that we didn't get out of second gear because we didn't need too but you felt it was there if we wanted too.

it bodes well for the run in.

Yep, far better today. My concern beforehand was that Silva and KDB would be wasted out wide, which was partially vindicated in that neither had great games, but I thought KDB in particular grafted far harder than he did say at home to Swansea, when he came off the bench and jogged around like a tart.
Kelechi was much better than I thought he was going to be, although he did fade a bit. The important thing though was that he didn't look out of place in this company.
Pellers finally resting Ya Ya was a boon to the side, and it helped Ya Ya as well. Thought he controlled proceedings after he came on, without once looking like the leg weary lump that showed up at Vicarage Road and Woodison Park. Most pleasing of all though were the performances of Fernando and Delph - the first time in ages when there hasn't been space galore in front of the two centre halves. Only Otamendi was better IMO.
Whatever, definitely looked like a team with something in reserve. Hope Pellers sticks with the two from Big Fern, Little Fern and Delph in that engine room.

Completely agree mate. Silva had a very good game over all but i too commented that we might have looked better balanced and more dangerous had the two wide players been Navas and Sterling but thats nit picking. Yaya and his cameo was perfect in that we were winning comfortably, his legs were fresh against a tiring side and he had license to do what he does best and thats attack. it worked perfectly.

Delph and otamendi superb, good performance all round, took some converts with me today, there's a shit load more to do nowadays for them, then when I was a kid at Maine road singing Swales out, outside the entrance. Bring on West Ham !
