City vs Palace - Post Match Thread

Yep, far better today. My concern beforehand was that Silva and KDB would be wasted out wide, which was partially vindicated in that neither had great games, but I thought KDB in particular grafted far harder than he did say at home to Swansea, when he came off the bench and jogged around like a tart.
Kelechi was much better than I thought he was going to be, although he did fade a bit. The important thing though was that he didn't look out of place in this company.
Pellers finally resting Ya Ya was a boon to the side, and it helped Ya Ya as well. Thought he controlled proceedings after he came on, without once looking like the leg weary lump that showed up at Vicarage Road and Woodison Park. Most pleasing of all though were the performances of Fernando and Delph - the first time in ages when there hasn't been space galore in front of the two centre halves. Only Otamendi was better IMO.
Whatever, definitely looked like a team with something in reserve. Hope Pellers sticks with the two from Big Fern, Little Fern and Delph in that engine room.

Fair assessment. Not sure how much playing out wide can be blamed for some of the ineptitude Silva and KDB displayed; especially as they came inside a fair bit and left the flanks to the full backs. Thankfully both got better and showed some welcome aggression as the latter part of the game.

We still lack some cohesion as a defensive unit and Otamendi was a one man defence at times but churlish to complain too much when we win 4-0 and we did play some very good football in patches. This result and three clean sheets in a week will hopefully boost confidence and that may increase consistency.

First twenty minutes I thought palace were much the better team. The goal settled us down and it was nice to see some of the confidence come back to our attacking play. I liked the work rate in midfield with Delph and Fernando and thought yaya looked better coming off the bench to exploit the space with his passing when they were chasing the game. Would probably have preferred to have seen one of navas or sterling start instead of KDB but that's probably me being pedantic.

What i did like today was when Silva was taken out by the two Palace players he got up looked towards the ref who might I add was uninterested which pissed our David right off so with that he ran and won the ball back which lead to our third:)
What that said to me was don't rely on refs..

Great result today. Was at the match with my 10 year old son in the South Stand Tier 313. Delph deserved the man of the match award as his engine was awesome he was everywhere today and got the opener with a pile driver.

Big shout out to all those that were at the game cos the atmosphere was great
