I am going to get stick my neck out here and say the Europa League is a priority for this season if we don't qualify for the knockout stages. Of course it isn't the most glamorous of trophies and it has habit of mucking up the domestic campaign, but it is still a trophy and it does give us a little more experience in playing a European competition as a team.

And the coefficient points to keep us in pot 2.

That as well.

We are far too easy to play against. Domestically these problems are generally masked but against a smarter european side we are exposed time and again. Last night our midfield was consistantly by-passed due to their superior numbers. Same against Bayern. It's not a laziness or an ability issue, it's tactical and imo our manager has been found lacking again. We cannot play with 2 out and out strikers, it leaves us too light in the middle and Yaya and Ferna are having to do an excessive amount of work (which is clearly not Toures game). I cannot think of any top european sides who play with 2 strikers or in some cases 1 striker.
Clearly Toure is being accommodated in this team but I think Silva is as well. Ajax identified a few seasons ago that due to Silva drifting centrally we're consistently open to the counter on the left side. See Maicon last night and see the difference when Milner came on.
Defence and clean sheets wins the Champions league and we are not heeding the lessons.
Depressing. Playing into opponents hands all the time.

I cannot understand why Dzeko was Subbed last night imo he was more of a threat than Aguero his height was a threat and gave more than the tired looking Argentinian Infact Jovetic did more in eight minutes than he did all night As already been said, we did miss Fernando who would have endeavoured to break up the dominance that Roma enjoyed ,especially in the first half when we were overrun I Know Mangala had a bit of a mare at Hull ,but his pace would have been more useful Demichelis 2-3 times last night was taken out However it wasn't a good night for ALL the back four Finally our set pieces are woeful no variation or initative

Last night a linesman found a mobile on the pitch early in the first half. Anyone else see this and more importantly, which player took his mobile onto the pitch in game time ?

I just don't understand why we always get hard groups for Champs League and not easier one's like Liverpool, Chelsea, and Arsenal. And for god sake we won the premier league and does that not give us a break from the European Powers houses every single year Real Madrid and Bayern Munich(Always). And then we always have Sub-European Powerhouses like Borrusia Dortmund, Ajax, Roma, and Napoli. But our other English counterparts get 1 above average team and a cupcake team. Give us a break Palatini and your corrupt organization with your terrible refs. The pot seeding for Champions League is a BS formula of what he wants to watch and is good for tv ratings. We win the Premier League or qualify champions league and get 2 European Powerhouses everytime. While the other english teams watch us wallow for 2nd place and they easily go through if Arsenal make regular apperances in the round of 16. I dislike UFEA.
Chelesa Group Liverpool's Group: Ludogerets, Basel, Real Madrid Arsenal Group: Anderlecht,Gala, Dortmund
Schalke
Sporting Lisbon(sold their top players like dier and rojo)
NK Maribor

What on earth is a cupcake team? Would teams like Villareal or Viktoria Plzen count as a cupcake team?

And who the fuck is this Palatini bloke whose trying to fiddle the competition? We've had enough already with the French bloke picking on us without this.

I am saying teams like NK Maribor ,Ludogerets, Basel, Anderlecht, and Gala(after Mancini left). Whereas in our group their are no cupcake teams we get no cupcake teams what so ever yet every year the other enlgish teams get 2 per group. Begin to dislike the competion because of the biased standards of it.

I really want to be upbeat but cannot see us having what is necessary to get us through, There is little doubt that the group draw was another killer There is little doubt we are a good team . but as proved not world class , and this wont be attained thanks to FFP The draw system is certainly unfair and its farcical how the actual champions are behind the eight ball is typically done to keep the major top4-5 teams in it for as long as possible I HATE THIS COMPETITION

I noticed that and assume it was probably a ground staff member who dropped it prior to the game

It was Yaya checking his Fantasy Football lineup.

Its a shame we keep defending these players after they've put up this kind of performance in front of loyal fans like us and we don't hold them accounted to such games. A Real fan wouldn't tolerate such performance from the players but for us it seems okay.
