Without Silva, Kompany and possibly Fernandinho, I predict a tough 2-2 as Tottenham generally play well against us and have been unlucky to lose at the Etihad in recent years. We definitely need to avoid defeat though.

No - we, and Pellegrini in particular , need to win - end of. We could find ourselves languishing in 10 th, 8 or 9 points behind come Sunday if we don´t. Then all shit will break loose

This.

This game is must win because of the reasons you have stated, but losing this game would definitely start the realisation that we are not going to win the league, going 8-9 points behind by November is a disgrace with the team we have in my opinion!

I think the media would start turning on Pellegrini as well!

Is there any update on the injuries to Fernandinho or Jovetic yet? Presumably Nastasic is fit again after playing for the Serbian under 21s, and Kompany and Silva definitely won't be available?
Don't know but I'd presume fernandinho is fit at this stage if he had a fitness test the morning of the sunderland game and nothing new has happened.
no word on Jovetic, originally the prognosis was 3 weeks and he was injured 3 weeks ago today, but I'd say he's extremely unlikely to be rushed back after a few injuries with all the xmas games coming up and nasri, aguero, negredo and dzeko all fit and available.

Plzen seems the obvious game to bring back Jovetic (and Rodwell).

Crucial game for both sides this, whoever loses could end the day below Newcastle.

I'm worried because in our current state, we're sort of tottenham's perfect opponents. They suck when they have to break down a defence, which is why they're having problems scoring this season, they want to play counter attacking football but everyone is sitting deep against them. But we'll take the possession which they could well soak up, and our defence will be vulnerable to the pace of Townsend and Lennon/Lamela or whoever starts, due to its shaky status.

I'd like to think we'll win but got a very bad feeling about this one. Need to take a lead early.

0-0 or 1-0

People place too much importance on individual games. Doesn't matter where we get points.

Why was he in the under 21's? obviously I know he's young enough but he's got a lot of caps for the big team.

Hard to disagree

this is a game for james philip milner because navas can't defend.

richards and kolarov must be thrown in there as well.

i know kolarov doesn't always want to defend but without him nasri won't have a good game.

Sun reckons Hart is on the bench again.

Spotted on the official site that Silva and Kompany were at Carrington today - but not sure that means much.

Yeh, I saw those pictures too, Nastasic, Jovetic, Kompany and Silva all looked to be participating with the team, so hopefully all are returning to full fitness.

No idea where they get their info from, but Fernandinho, Nastasic and Jovetic all listed as being fit for the Spurs game. Kompany for Swansea on Dec 1 (which I have seen elsewhere).
