City warn fans not to wear colours in Napoli

Stay safe Blues,

You young uns ask us grey haired ones about the 70's and 80's.

No colours, head down keep walking outside the ground. Sing your hearts out (for the blues) inside and when safe away from the ground.

colours or not in the old days didn't make a difference as your accent gave you away

not speaking italian is gonig to be a duzie !! the brits i'm afraid will stand out like a sore thumb

however if you use your loaf and keep sober you will be ok and if you find yourself near some nutter singing city songs get away from him as fast as you can only sing in side the ground and get in as early as you can

Lots of scaremongering about this fixture.
I personally cant wait.
Dodgy place, dodgy ground - wasnt that moss side maine rd on many a night game!
The atmosphere in the ground is suppose to be one of the best in the world - they've had to reduce the attendance in recent years as all the fan bouncing up and down makes the local flats shake!!

This advice is Spot on for those going to the ground under their own steam. for those on the shuttle buses Once you get to the pickup point you can get your scarves out. You will be under heavy escort to and from the ground. Those taking a mini break do not go round the city in tops etc. act as a tourist and blend in. Remember the main flashpoints...the night before the game in Piazza Garibaldi and outside the stadium on the night of the game.

Remember those that got attacked were generally in the wrong area at the wrong time. Do not get paranoid about it...it is about the application of common sense. As I said before I met Scousers dining in the Quartieri Spagnoli (Spanish Quarters) sensibly wearing no colours they just looked like tourists.

A sense of proportion is needed. Whilst I would say that there is danger in Napoli it is easy enough to avoid. Walking back to a hotel in Garibaldi at 2am is dangerous...as is leaving any bar in the small hours without a taxi outside. Most muggings happen in the dark. If you are driving and a scooter knocks your wing mirror off...be careful, it can be the prelude to a mugging (usually done to BMW's, Mercs and Ferraris for obvious reasons)

The Germans got their colours into the ground so I'm sure you can

What were the Napoli fans like in Manchester for the home tie? Perhaps scum don't travel.

Couple of small flashpoints outside the ground beforehand - no big deal.
They were rowdy with the police though when outside beforehand.

Talking of colours, are the Blue Alliance taking the banners that they had for the Villarreal home game, they would look brilliant on the front of that away end, help show off our atmosphere and dedication to Europe, they love that sort of thing
