Untrue. A Club’s “Salary Cap Threshold” shall be 40 % of the Club’s gross annual operating budget for that Salary Cap Year, as set out in the Club’s 2014 – 2017 FAWSL Club Licence. This figure must be agreed with the FA WSL Business Manager by such date as is notified by The Football Association in each Salary Cap Year.

Essentially the budget could be unlimited, depending on how seriously City take it.

That's the rule they have in place to prevent teams from offering million pound salaries to entice their highest earners. The 20k rule still applies though.

You're using an FAQ from 2012....

I haven't seen anything that supplants it, and the WSL still have it up on their website. If you know of the rule being removed, I'd be happy to be proven wrong if you can find a link...

Course they have it on their website...that's women's football for you.... As for the rules they won't publically share them unless there are requested...

Salary Cap Regulations Breaches

3.1 Each Club and all other Participants must ensure that they comply with the following requirements. Any failure to comply with any of the following requirements will constitute a breach of these Salary Cap Regulations:

3.1.1 A Club must ensure that the sum of the Salary Cap Value of all of the contracted players in any Salary Cap Year is no more than the Salary Cap Threshold for that Club.

Basically set a massive operating budget to give you VERY large sums to spend on wages...City missed out on another good squad player recently too.

Hope they are looking at someone like Carly Lloyd....

Fair enough, though I don't think that this is another rule that can just be loopholed. We haven't used loopholes to avoid any other financial restrictions so far and I'm sure we won't on this either.

At any rate, I have a sneaking suspicion that if we were to just come out and tell the WSL that we had decided to boost the women's team budget from £500k (at a guess) to £20m then they would take one look at it and go "yeah...nice try, but you're not getting away with that".

Le Arse kicking off as us and the Chavs are getting away from them.

Plus la change....

With four players leaving and only one in where they're actually needed the lack of signings is definitely worry. Particularly as rivals are strengthening there squads with good depth.
The squad is worryingly thin. Assume a centre half will come in as putting Beattie there means Walsh will be in a midfield three with Scott and Christiansen, but an injury/suspension to any of those means centre half will need to be filled and the support players are not of sufficient quality. The same of the forwards depth needed too, Stanway is there but can you really rely on a 16 year old for back and consistency? Chelsea look miles in front. Arsenal strengthened a lot. Surely more is needed naïve to go in with a squad of 18.

It is a real worry. What are your thoughts on possibly bringing in some of the Melbourne ladies on loan, like they did with our Beattie? I know quite a few of them are Australia internationals so there must be some quality there, certainly.
