we're gonna need a bigger boat!
I'm so amused, and just to amuse myself further...
What other teams deliberately designed their training grounds to let the women have their own area but with full interactivity with the men's teams? No-one, neither did City, the Women's team were on board after plans and building had started. But Doncaster are building are training ground just for their women's side...Chelsea use Cobham, Arsenal Colnoy, Sunderland Academy of Light etc...
What other teams let their female players do pre-season fitness training with the male players? No where have I seen the women's team doing pre season with the men's as the season start at different times that actually would be impossible...perhaps enlighten me. But Liverpool did do previous training session with their teams at Melwood.
What other teams have custom-built stadia for the women's team right next to the men's ground, instead of relegating them to playing on a rented Conference ground 5 miles outside of the city? Wasn't build for the women was it...again benefactors of a already conceived project. But Barcelona do it.
What other teams send their women's teams on expensive trips to the Middle East to be showcased for the club's owners, rather than sidelining them to the level of supporting act for the men? Arsenal are touring Spain playing the like of Bayern Munich and Liverpool have gone to South Africa. Go on skyscanner for the rest...
That's what I mean about revolutionising the sport. The exact same is happening in Melbourne. When players join either of the two MCWFCs, they don't say they are joining because of the prestige of the club, they say they are joining because they've never found a club which treats them so professionally nor throws so many resources at them. All players say this when joining a club...standard.
As for the players we've signed not being better than the players we let go, are you really sure about that, or are you just going off your view that because our newest signing is Irish, she can't be up to the standard of the other players in the league? No im going off the view that I know women's football. good long throw though.
What about the signing of Jane Ross, who has a 1 in 2 goal rate in 78 appearances for the Scottish national team - a team which may not have reached the Women's World Cup but only failed to qualify after losing a play-off against the Netherlands - the same Netherlands who almost matched Japan, the losing finalist, in their knock-out game? Don't have a problem with that. We play a with one striker so unsure how she fits. Better players out there that were available IMO.
Or how about our new Swedish striker, who has already scored 21 goals for her country - and Sweden, unlike Ireland or Scotland, have a better than 50% rate of reaching major international semi-finals at women's level? Again don't believe I've mentioned that she isn't talented, although has done nothing at PSG for 6 months. Hope it goes well for her.
Im off to file my nails.
How are they "not actually any better" than the players who have left, virtually all of whom haven't had a single cap and most of whom failed to break into the first XI last season? The depth of the English player pool is larger than Irelands.
