I really don't understand why the vast majority on here just look at them as sexual objects and can't help themselves make sleazy comments like a 70 year old man on Viagra looking at page 3 in the paper.

They are footballers, who take an enormous amount of pride in what they do, and more importantly they represent Manchester City. If you want to fawn on the Internet, there are plenty of websites for the odd desperate oggle.

These threads are for discussing their performances and prospects on the field. If you find that uncomfortable or beyond the realms of your intelligence, google Toni Duggan, print off some pictures, and have a wank.

I'm pretty sure I speak for the rest on here genuinly interested in the development of City Women and the players.

I've seen women on here make comments about how fit Negredo and Navas are. Didn't see anyone rushing to shoot them down.

Very different circumstances and you know it. The mens game isn't in a rush to be taken seriously and prove it's integrity.

City Women is very new, and the minority of reactions were inevitable, but does it need to be on nearly every page of the thread whenever the team and it's progress is discussed?

That's just because we all have crushes on them.

In all seriousness, though, it is a bit different. Men generally have not had to live through centuries of formal or informal subjugation, followed by implicit or explicit discrimination, followed by veiled bias.

It may not be equal treatment but I don't think men should be a protected class, and will not need to be for some time, unfortunately.

Saying the lads are fit is not the same as what some of the lads say they want to do to the women.I respect the players for their ability to play football but there seems to be a lack of the same respect to the women's team

Small point lads, the name of the team is City Women rather than City Ladies. Might seem a bit daft to some but it seems to be important to the players and some of the supporters in terms of respect so we can hopefully extend them this small courtesy as part of our extended City Family.

City Women wouldn't be in their present form without the immense voluntary work put in by people who supported City Ladies

I totally agree. But the people involved in the club seem to prefer City Women for reasons of respectability and we think this is a small request. Absolutely nobody on here is taking away from City Ladies nor what they proudly achieved, it's just that I've seem a few people involved who think "Ladies" is old fashioned and patronising whereas "Women" is more up to date and reflective.

To be honest mate, i think it was much more business minded than that. The club rightly took over the role that those volunteers were working towards, the day when the women and youth teams were incorporated into the club. Now they are, for tax, sponsorship etc etc they needed a separate identity. The move from Ladies to Women was the most sensible.

Could be the right time to add a sub forum for the women's team/squad. It would give us all a chance to get to know them in a zero tolerance environment.
I'm fairly sure it would much appreciated by MCWFC.

I'd argue that the people who say calling the men and women fit isn't the same thing are the ones who are sexist. They clearly think the women are inferior and need to be protected with cotton wool. Not for me. I think they're equal and should be treated as such. I look out for all their results and if I find a player for them attractive I have no shame in making the comment, just as a woman would for a man. It would only cross the line for me if the comments were continuous and vulgar. That goes for both sexes.

Blue army!
