City's "Hard Men"

Game as fuck Curle mate ;-)

If we're talking about players who were tough/hard as nails, as opposed to the "gobshite hard men", off the top of my head from what I've seen and what I know :-

Dave Watson
Mike Doyle
Nicky Reid
Gerry Gow
Keith Curle
Eric Nixon
Andy Morrison
Nigel De Jong
Vincent Kompany
Pablo Zabaleta

Whilst I wouldn't say Dennis Tueart was a traditional "Hard man", he was a feisty little sod.
Dennis was nails

Not seen curly wurley mentioned anywhere, not sure if known but he’s like a 5th/6th Dan in jujitsu, which means he’s a fucking ninja, thus would kick the shit out of anyone mentioned on this list!
I take your point 're Curle,he was hard, solid and didn't give an inch for City,or Wimbledon ....
But..I have to say,I saw Chris Kamara show our captain who was boss, one day at Luton away, back in the day..
I was in the home end, think away fans were banned, can't remember..but sitting in their Main stand, near the tunnel..at Half time ..I witnessed Kamara grab Curle round the neck ..and shake him...
No idea what happened thereafter.....but it did make me gulp..I wasn't bothered about the home fans around me,but was pretty worried for our captain,..at that moment.

Nah scared of the ball at free kicks.

Someone mentioned DT earlier in the thread, the guy he head butted was one of his close mates.
Yep.and Tueart went to visit the Hartlepool player in hospital after the match.
Unlike Mr buchan after he did Bell at Maine rd with that nasty sly tackle which virtually ended his career,no visit no apology, no nothing.
So he must have meant it.City won that night ,and Dennis Tueurt scored a brilliant goal running from the half way line, head down, like a man possessed, before smashing the ball home in front of Platt Lane.

George Potter mate ;-).

Dennis was very apologetic and even embarrassed, here’s a letter he sent out to Junior Blues :-

Hand bags (:

I would hazard a guess throat choking him Gracie style may of got him locked up (:

If you are talking about a genuine hard man then you don't have to look any further than Mike Doyle at the end of the game at the Swamp when Dennis Law relegated the Rags. I count myself as an honourary hard man as at the age of 19 I stayed until after the final whistle in the Scoreboard End even though it was mayhem.
