I'm pretty sure that was the game before the semi final that said Spanish police were wankers at the semi as well, we didn't have any mither with the Lisbon police apart from being marched to the tube station after the game.We were stood outside the bar right outside the ground which was full of City fans having a great time. Absolutely no hint of a cross word and suddenly about 5 or 6 Spanish riot vans screeched to a halt and Spanish stormtroopers piled out and proceeded to wade into the City fans hitting anything that moved with batons ! I recall one old guy who was hit over the head turned out to be an official of Charlton Athletic FC. He was pictured in the media with blood covered face. They said at the time that he would be making a formal complaint to UEFA but don’t know if he did. The attack appeared to be premeditated and deliberate, designed to provoke a happy bunch of English football fans to retaliate (which we didn’t) I was threatened with a baton and I was 63 at the time ! Spanish police are as bad, and worse, as the bastards we experienced in Lisbon last month.

Well. You say marched... that was one of the slowest marches I have been on. 45 minutes to walk about 500 metres. That’s absolutely disgraceful. The cunts who did that should be up on an attempted murder charge. I didn’t go in 2012 but was there in 2016 too. I got off lightly compared to your wife and others. Once I finally got in the ground (well after kick-off due to all the kettling outside), I made my way to the steps taking me up to my seat from the concourse but they were blocked by riot police. I wrongly assumed they would step aside and allow me through. Theyre scum, they were actually pulling my missus hair to drag her back to hit her more. I took more digs in that 20 minutes than I have took in nearly 40 years and I'm a right gobby twat. When they finally buggered off and I did get to my seat, I was next to a bloke whose face looked like it had been through a mincer. He said the police came bowling into a bar full of City and Real fans and just indiscriminately battered anyone who was unlucky enough to be in range.
I e-mailed complaints to City and the British Embassy in Madrid once I got home. City said they were compiling a dossier as it seemed some of their staff were caught up in it too. When I e-mailed the Embassy, I told them that I knew nothing would get done as it’s been going on for decades and they do it to their own civilians too. They replied saying that they absolutely take these complaints seriously……..and then fobbed me off with a link to the relevant Spanish authorities to complain to. Trouble is, I was actually due back in Madrid about a month later for a mini-break with the other half and no way was I going to file a complaint ahead of that trip as the fuckers would’ve probably not allowed me back in!
