CL League Phase Draw 2025/26 | Fixtures (pg 32)

quite odd this a Thursday night game. while Arsenal plays Tuesday night giving them two days more to get ready for Arsenal-City PL game.
It's not. They had Thursday games last year too. It's to maximise the TV revenue and make a 3 day long event of the opening matchday.

It's a load of bollocks but it's no conspiracy theory.

More of a case of him being passed his best, at the end of his contract and us needing a rebuild. No reflection on him as a player being able to produce moments of magic. Whatever happens, it was the right decisions I think.
Watched him tonight, got subbed off. Ineffective, though Napoli weren’t great as a whole. Don’t think they know how best to use Kev.

Don't agree with Viana at all with him seeing its a positive to have kdb back at the Etihad, its the worst scenario in my book. I was content with him going to Napoli because he'd largely be out of sight and we likely wouldnt have to see him face up against us, the exact reasons why I didnt want to see him remain in the premier league and now were going to have to see him in Napoli shirt against us. Horrible scenario, same way I never wanted David Silva or kompany or fernandinho or gundo before he came back to end up against us Viana way off in my book.
It's one match.

Kev is one of the best players we've ever had.
I my eyes el mago is the player I've ever seen.
Kinky 2.
Kev 3rd.
But last season it was clear time had caught up with kev.
One good game in Italy doesn't make him 10yrears young.
Time moves on.
We've been very very lucky to see two of the best players to play on England.
It's only after you realise how lucky
I wish some of the idiots in the post-match would take heed of that last line. Most of those of us that have been around through the tough times DO realise how lucky we are now.

I think it's appalling that even in here there are some saying they will more or less be supporting Napoli rather than "these losers" - we've only lost 4 matches since March, and until last week the other three were just by the odd goal. Yet to hear some talk you would think we were relegation fodder.

There are around 15-16 PL teams wishing they were us right now and some of you might not get it yet, but you've just had the best years of your lives, an era in history that most clubs will never see. If it continues it's just a bonus.

That draw was tougher than I expected given that we were a top seed. However, there are some very exciting ties.

We should qualify. Last season our season was destroyed by injury and the decline in form of ageing key players. It is an open question as to whether they have been replaced. I would say not. I hold out more hope for our academy players (Bobb and O'Reilly) than I do our signings. For City to be successful, Pep is going to have to give players like O'Reilly opportunities. O'Reilly might continue to develop in attacking areas of the pitch.
Makes a refreshing change to see sometimes who understands why we were where we were last season but I dint think it d so much a decline in form but the disruption caused by the extent of the injuries. With Bobb out we effectively lost two very highly rated players for the season in to if all the other injuries and yet some still can't seem to grasp just how much of an effect that will have on the team, even after they watched it play out in front of them.

I think we'll be fine, we have a very exciting looking line up and nobody is setting the world on fire, with only 2 (3?) teams with a 100% record after just 2 matches. And let's not forget, Liverpool's total last year wouldn't have been enough to catch us in any of the seasons when we won it so it's not exactly looking like a high bar.

Correct.

They played their opening CL game on a Thursday last season. Who did they play the Sunday after? Us at The Etihad.

Our opening CL game was the Wednesday.

Why the fuck are we playing on a Thursday night first game?
It’s UEFA’s way of showcasing its main two club competitions with as few distractions as possible.First matchday of the CL is played over Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday of one week and then same with the EL the following week.
It’s the reason why the Carabao Cup third round draw has to be adapted to make sure that a CL club can’t meet an opponent playing in the EL. The calendar just wouldn’t have space in it.

Correct.

Our opening CL game was the Wednesday.
And Arsenal’s game on that Thursday before the Etihad on the Sunday was a tricky visit to Atalanta. Tougher schedule than us being at home in a couple of weeks time.

Slight tangent here. The restriction on ticket transfers to three people. That only applies to PL matches, right? Am on the cup scheme but cant attend all of the matches.
I have checked the email we got earlier in the month and it only mentions the PL.

I think this remains to be seen. Once Napoli ticket details are confirmed etc.

Yeah.
It would be odd to have the same restriction for cup matches, though. I think all the group games will got allow members and ST holders to buy additional tickets at some point.
And those tickets would be electronic.

Where are people staying for Villarreal? I’m flying into Alicante so was thinking of staying in Valencia. I’ve heard of at least one person who is running a coach from there to Villarreal on the day of the game. I know a lot will stay in Benidorm and get the coach from there but I’ve been to Benidorm before, whereas Valencia is new to me.
