I agree. No need for the petition.

The viewing figures and sales world wide speak volumes enough.

God bless Jezza.

What have his viewing figures and sales world wide got to do with whether he should be sacked or not for allegedly punching a BBC employee while at work?

I can't see a disciplinary hearing taking these factors into account, and if it did it'd be absurd.

I expect high standards of behaviour from those who work for our public services and I don't want violent oafs employed with public money.
I don't give a fuck what you expect or want and neither does anyone else to be fair. You may be labouring under the misapprehension that you matter to anyone making the decision.

As with everything else in life, it comes down to money.

Also, violence well placed is a handy thing to have in one locker. He chinned Piers Morgan once also so fair fucks to him.

To be fair I'm not sure anyone gives a fuck what you think either, not that it stopped you giving your robust opinions in a vulgar manner.

If everything came down to money then people like Jeffrey Archer, Jonathan Aitken and Chris Huhne wouldn't have been punished for their wrongdoing as they are all loaded.

Clarkson has allegedly done something wrong and the public knows about it.

Any leniency for alleged assault will be a disaster for the reputation of the BBC.

Morgan deserves a slap if he can't get out of the way of a hay-maker from that lummox.

Good point.

If Clarkson's punches are as well sign posted as his gags then Morgan had time to do the cross word, have a cup of coffee and slag off Arsene Wenger half a dozen times before ducking.

Netflix has a $5bn budget, spent $90m on Marco Polo plus another $60m per season of House of Cards and suggest Top Gear is one of their most popular programmes (and of course the most watched program in the world currently).

They also spent around $50m per season on Hemlock Grove and Orange Is The New Black.

Top Gear's budget is around £7m a year. They would presumably go mad for it if it were on the market.

That's a really good shout, but I can't see the BBC selling the whole brand. They're not entirely useless at popular programming. They've rebooted stuff like Dr Who to great success. The present format of Top Gear isn't getting any fresher, the shenanigans always feel staged, and the challenges/road trips are pretty repetitive in form and content. And as much as Clarkson is the defining personality, there is a lot more to the format than that - for example the editing and post-production has often been identified as the best on television, full-stop.

If Clarkson does leave, and I think he will, I have no little to doubt he'll end up in the Murdoch empire, He already writes for the papers and is the kind of personality that works across different media. And something tells me he's a perfect match for Murdoch's target audience, and his vision of Sky as a alternative voice and viable competitor to the BBC. The Times printed a leader today that suggested he had run out of road at the BBC but would come back in spades.

It's really upsetting the yoghurt knitters that he's popular and might get away with it.

Good on him.

This is absolutely the best thing about Clarkson, his ability to send the easily offended into a frenzy. Which he does regularly meaning the soft cocks get more and more offended. It's hilarious knowing he's doing it just to troll them.

So punching a co-worker is acceptable is it?

No it's not and I haven't signed the petition because we don't know what's happened for sure. It's almost certain he's gone too far this time but most of his other episodes were masterful moments of trolling.

He has the vision and experience to move from the BBC and start his own car show.

Challenge top gear, do something special.

I would agree Sky would love to have him. He'd be a perfect fit for them.

I cant really understand why everyone seems to dislike him so much. He's pretty harmless really. Ok he,s a bit un pc at times but people just need to stop taking him so seriously. He's a 50 odd year old bloke from Yorkshire so what do you expect. He's one of the most harmless yorkshiremen the bbc have ever employed!

I'd love to see the reaction of every single one of the petition signers if they were punched in the face by a senior colleague and was told no action would be taken because he's more popular than them.

Fact is in nearly every job in Britain, if you punch someone you'll get the sack. If Clarkson has hit this guy the BBC have no choice but to sack him, particularly given his track record and 'final warning'.

I don't get what the fuss is all about. I am intrigued as to how far the public would allow a star to go before they turn on him.

If only these people signing a campaign to ''save him'' would sign a campaign to ''save the NHS''
Why?

That's such a bollocks statement.

It assumes that a) the NHS needs 'saving', whatever the fuck that very subjective statement means, b) that people can only care about one thing at any one time and c) that signing a petition actually means something when compared for say, voting, in a general election, in a couple of months time.

It seems the answer to that question is......

..."Raping kids in his BBC dressing room for a decade"

You ought to be. You write so knowledgeably and persistently about it.
