Sky has a reputation as a middle of the road, family entertainer to consider.

A million people signed a petition to support him and that's just the ones who could be arsed. He has millions of fans around the world and millions of fans = ££££. They will be fighting in the street to sign him up.

I said previously, I bet Netflix will park a dump truck full of money on Clarksons drive.

They have a two billion programming budget and regularly throw fifty million at stuff like Orange Is The New Black and Marco Polo. Top Gear is one of the most watched programme in the world, and Netflix have previously hinted that it does great numbers for them.

The Top Gear budget which they do all of their crazy stuff on is around seven million.

Netflix also means similar protection as the BBC - no advertisers to consider, direct content control, and a worldwide audience.

Seems a match made in heaven, especially as you would expect them to give TG an increased budget.

Excellent point. Clarkson being binned by the Beeb is music to Netflix's ears, the budget, to them, is a few executive lunches, the BBC has lost a massive commercial draw. For what it's worth, I never watch it, that little shit Hammond makes me want to petition for the re-introduction of hanging, drawing and quartering, but business sense doesn't appear to have been foremost in this decision.

If that is what you have to try and reason TG is not popular then i wish you well.
Me for example, i would not sign a petition that is trivial but i used to love tg. I paid the tv license and i made sure it was on and would not miss it.
Now i am your average bloke so how many more are in my bracket of loving it (well i used to not now) but cba signing a petition ? I would say a hell of a lot.

Yes a lot of teens watch it but a hell of a lot of working adults do to and watch it religiously.

Why are loads of people (not necessarily on here) defending him?

I guarantee if someone punched you at work that you would be happy to see them sacked.

Most would hit them back and leave it at that. Disagreements happen all of the time between people, especially when booze is involved. Many on here are of an upbringing or a generation where hitting somebody isn't a huge deal that people need to get their knickers in such a twist about.

I come from that sort of background and I have hit a few people in my time but when an incident happens in the workplace there can only be one out come and sacking him is the only course of acceptable action any boss could take.

Clarkson is a bully and he wasn't laying into a 20 stone truck driver and he was also taking advantage of his position as a Star
