Clashing kit colours

It's a real bugbear of mine, teams wearing the away kit, when there's no real need for it. Is it REALLY a clash of colours when we play at Chelsea and Everton, for example. Or West Ham on the opening day. Is the sky blue sleeves on the Hammers kit enough of a clash? I realise we have worn our home kit at those grounds (and vice versa). Which just makes it all the more odd when we do change into our away kit. Marketing, I suppose. Did I also see somewhere that PL rules dictate that you need to wear your away/third kits x times a season, or is that a myth?
If that is the case then I'd like to hear what reason the PL have for having such a rule!

Probably chatting shit here but from my diminishing memory I think Everton and Chelsea always wear their home kit at ours and we never do at theirs.
I reckon We'll wear our home kit at Stamford Bridge this season as we have maroon change shorts not white or sky blue.

Might be the colour settings on whatever you are watching on.

I didn't see a clash. Barca in a silver/white kit and city in a yellow/black.

There was more of issue last season when we played Brighton away. Every kit we had clashed with their home kit.

I’m sure Boro turned up at Maine Road in the 80s and wore rag shirts. One of the rare times I sat in the main stand as usually in the Kippax.
They did, but that was because they’d forgotten to bring their shirts with them.

It's especially a pain in the arse when half the pitch is in bright sunlight and the other half is in shadow. It's amazing to me that no-one has come up with a camera that can deal with that yet. A smartphone can ffs, but apparently it's beyond the 50 grand professional cameras.

I’ve always wondered that. In the 2020s, with 4K and the like, TV cameras still can’t focus on teams in the sunshine.

It used to be the case that teams couldn't wear the same coloured shorts ,so we would wear blue or maroon shorts at Arsenal, United etc.. when our first kit had white shorts.
These days I think it is often a case of marketing and trying to wear the change kits as much as possible( to basically tempt people to buy as many extortionate priced shirts as possible) Sometimes teams seem to wear a change kit that seems to 'clash' more than the actual first kit.
