Clattenburg (Update p59 - not selected next weekend)

somewhere along the line someone is going to have to pay the price of this.

either clattenberg is a lying **** or the players are.

as much as i`d like to say its clattenberg, i`ve got a feeling this is mostly the players losing it. and clattenberg saying something thats been twisted, but lets hope not

I'm putting money on a Chelsea win, Chelsea penalty, United red card combo. You know it makes sense.

2nd time in a short period a ref has not been assigned to a match the week after controversy in a Utd game (Foy v Pool).
But Mason they have for Wed night, he is as hopeless it it gets also

With Mason's family being S/T rags (as stated on BM) I assume he'll do the right thing and play for a Chelsea win in a nomark compy to show 'everything evens up over a season'.

Now where's that wwe thread?

Allegedly a Chelsea player said to Clattenburg i will break your legs ref, if so then that player should be investigated as well

i'd question weather this was said as if it was, the ref would have sent the player off
That was after the match in the dressing room
Allegedly

You can be sent off after the game at ay time when still within the stadium.

correct

the ref can report any misconduct from when he arrives at the stadium to when he leaves (though by the letter of the laws he can not physically show the player in question a red / yellow card if the incident occurs after / before the players are on the pitch) the player is simply informed the ref has heard / seen the offence being committed and will be reporting him to the authorities

I know that
I think the poster thought it happened on the pitch.

tbh what you said was the first i've heard about something being said to clattenburg so i assumed it was on the pitch!

in any case...this is a messy situation that won't be sorted out for a while...dont think we'll see him in the middle any time soon at least

I'm sure it's already been mentioned several times, but for me we have got to have goal line technology and an appeals system asap. If each team was allowed up to one appeal each half, which would take no longer than a minute to sort out, this would expose the cheats and divers ( e.g. Young yet again on sunday ) and they would think twice about doing it. Each team could have an appeal for penalty, offside and sendings off only for an official to review, just like cricket and rugby. If we get an appeals system, which is optional for each team then they can use it if they feel an injustice. The other good thing to come out of it would be that the Rags would stop benefitting from these outragous decisions. At present every other club gets good and bad decisions 50/50, the Rags seem to get 90/10 in their favour and this has got to stop.

Why can't we just have a video ref checking things like this? Goal gets scored, video guy checks for legality and lets the ref know of there's a problem. No need for appeals. This weekend two major, game changing decisions would have been overturned and the correct decision made. Rags goal gets disallowed, red dippers win the dippers derby. The decisions would have been made within 15 seconds in both cases, probably quicker.
Personally, I would have a video ref check every goal in every game.
