Claudio Bravo

Looking at Bravo's stats:
Bravo is nearly 5 inches smaller than Hart and 11kg lighter, so while less reach he is probably slightly quicker off the mark?
At Barca his distribution success was 83-86% with an average pass distance of 28-30m. However when he was at Real Sociedad his distribution success was 56-63% with an average pass distance of 46-49m, this is very similar to Hart who last season had 59% distribution success with an average pass distance of 43m.
Bravo changed his game when he moved to Barca. I would imagine Hart could change his game in a team that plays like Barca?
No problem bringing Bravo in to educate Hart and provide competition but I hope we can give Hart a chance to try and develop.

There are two ways of looking at that though. I personally don't think there is any chance that Hart would unseat Bravo if he came in. IMO Bravo had that ability in his game before he came to Barca (that is why Barca bought him). So I very much want to sell Hart because it would be tough watching him sit on the bench all season and I think that is where he will be if he doesn't leave. I want the best for him and IMO that is leaving because after watching yesterday's game, he is done at City.

Look at the stats when he was at Real Sociedad, (see my earlier post), his distribution success and pass length were very similar to Hart's current stats.

Since joining Barca he does many much shorter passes and his passing success has massively improved.
Isn't that more an indication of what Sociedad's style of play was than of what Bravo was capable of doing?

That means he follows his manager's instructions and nothing more.

“I think it was the best demonstration of footwork and passing I’ve ever seen from a keeper.”

That was what Roy Hodgson said of Bravo in November 2013 after he got beat 2-0. So he certainly wasn't coached into it by Barcelona. I know its Roy but still when you hear it from people who have played against him, this move makes more than a lot of sense. Not demeaning Joe but we don't really see anyone talk much about that part of his game.

Got to be honest, if Bravo is available I hope we're all over it. In my opinion only De Gea and Neuer are ahead of him. There were also moments in the game on Saturday where I could see the need for our keeper to be better with their feet, Bravo would fit that criteria on top of being a good shot stopper.

There was a particular moment in the game where Willy came out of his box to play sweeper keeper (I think just before halftime?) and was successful and I realized what Pep had been on about. Our keepers never did that and Hart is generally slow off the line or a bit shaky in decision making (takes a split second)

That was one of the moments, there was also one when Willy let the ball run across his body and across the goal and he made a hash of the clearance, there was another one where Fernandinho was wide open for a pass and Willy didn't play it because there was a man about 15 yards from him & Fernandinho. In the system Pep plays its vital we have a keeper good on the ball.
